Every place has a local carnage alley, one of ours is Wentworth Springs Road...something in the nature of some roads brings out the worst in the squids and the complacent...many crashes and some fatals nearly every summer, all makes of bikes, all ages of riders...some roads will bite you if you are not skillful and wise...

Let me tell you!! I've ridden that road four times and two of them have ended up with a bike on the ground. The first one the guy went home in an ambulance with a broken pelvis. I doubt I will be going back..Too much bad carma!!!
I hear that! Seems like every time I ride that section I run into the Johnny Law at the best part of the curves. Last time I ended up following one all the way to Cougar. At least the pie at the cafe was good.

Glad your friend lived to tell his tale. Hope he recovers quick and learns from his experience.

I gotta say though ---- screw karma.I'd guess that you continue to work on being a better rider, make good judgements going into each corner, wear excellent gear, AND GO BACK up that road and continue to enjoy it. With your riding buddies.Take care.
good posting

I feel ya. This is my last post to the FJR Forum. I totaled my 07 FJR AE last weekend. Knocked my head and lost a half day of memories. The Shoei X-11 is a great helmet, but it does not absorb much brain shock. I don't know if I screwed up or if someone influenced the crash. Maybe it will come back.

So, I return to the FZ1 fourm. I had a 2002 FZ1 for 5 years and 80,000 miles. It was a great bike and I've heard the 09 is also a great bike. Take care all you FJR riders and keep riding. I'll see ya from the FJR Jr.

DOWN WITH HARDHATS!!!Don,

Read this before you buy another helmet. Sorry to hear you lost your AE. Enjoy the FZ....

Glad your friend came out okay. With that kind of damage to the bike he is very lucky he came off before it got to the tree. As to not returning to the road, I suggest all of you go back as soon as possible. Ride it much more slowly and check out everything as to the condition of the road, shoulders and other relevant conditions. Then work back up to whatever your riding skills allow you to do safely. From you comments you were also overriding as you crossed over the yellow also. Remember that practice makes perfect. The only way you will learn to ride better is to repeat until you fully understand your own abilities and the abilities of your bike. Good luck and stay safe. Remember, as someone else mentioned you can have fun while riding a little slower.

Glad to hear that you made it around the turn, and that your buddy is mostly OK.

I'm with OM on the 'screw Karma' idea. Correct speed and good technique are what get you safely around turns. Even if other idiots are 'sharing' your side of the road, approaching the turn with some lean angle in reserve and the best visibility possible will enhance your survival rate. If you want the adrenalin rush of taking a powerful bike around a fast turn at an exciting pace, the track is a good place to go.

Hope his bruises heal fast, and that he enjoys his new/repaired bike.
