Noticed last week that I was missing the rubber stop for one of the luggage cases. According to the instructions that came with the cases, the rubber stops were to be glued on. Apparently, the "tech" who set the bike up missed that part as the remaining stop was not glued on either (it is now) . What? What's that you say? Just go down to the dealer and get another one? I don't know if this has ever happened to any of you (if not, I would highly suggest checking both stops and if they are not glued on, do so) but there isn't an actual part number for these. It took the better part of a half hour just to find the stops on the fiche. We finally found it on the fiche with the exhaust mounting brackets. But, since there was no part number, the tech couldn't order the part but said he would call Momma Yamma the follow Monday. Two weeks later, (I don't really use the cases that often so it wasn't on my mind all that much) the wife and I were out for a ride and wound up at the dealer. I asked the parts guy if he had a chance to call and he replied he did call the following Monday, but they hadn't called back... jeez... he said he would have the Parts Manager call Tuesday (Monday/Labor Day) and get back to me. I will let you know how this turns out and hopefully be able to supply a part number for the stops. In the meantime, be sure to check your rubbers...

I was able to find a part number for the Gen I versions. They were under the saddlebags page and were listed as 'not pictured'. On the Gen I, that black piece of metal with the rubber doo-hickey will run you $45 from a discount vendor. So now when I bend them, or more accurately, when Groo causes them to get bent, I just bend them back to 'good enough' condition myself.

Edit:

Interestingly enough, Yamaha STILL does not list the 2008 FJR on their online parts catalog. Some of you 08 FJR owners need to call them and start a bitching.

Still, I was able to find the part numbers for the 07 FJR and they should be identical:

5JW-W9353-0L-00 MOUNT (LEFT) NOT SHOWN 5JW-W9353-0R-00 MOUNT (RIGHT) NOT SHOWN
Remember, the part #s are for the whole bracket, not just the rubber piece. You can't get just the rubber piece.

Thanks...

that figures... well, the black sock I've been using has been doing a pretty good job.

I had the same problem when I had my bike repaired after my get off. As soon as I get home I will get the part number for you. I still have the bag it came in.

Home now. The part number is 5VS-W9753-00-00. Its called a case bracket. Maybe that should be added somewhere so everyone can have that number if they need it. You are right, they are supposed to be glued on with cyanoacrylate. Mine just pop off also. They also gave me 2 when I needed only 1. Shoot me an addy and I will mail this extra one to you. I rarely take my bags off so not worried about losing the ones I have. Especially now that I'm going to glue it on.

I thought about bringing up this topic earlier on the forum, but I am so post shy because the flaming and dog piles that result from not using the search function on this site.

Mine fell off the first time I removed the bags on my 08. They are not glued and I was happy to discover this right away. If I am running without my bags I pop them off and stick them under the passanger seat. I figure they won't fall off if the bags are on so I haven't worried about gluing them.

I wouldn't worry worry about being shy about posting. Its rare that you find a comment made thats done in anger or spite. Most of it is just good natured fun. But I do tend to watch it on Fridays also.

Thanks for the info. If you have an extra one for the left side (as you are sitting on the bike) and want to part ways with it, I would certainly take it off your hands. Let me know and thanks again!
