Hey folks,

As anyone here made the swap and can shed some light either way? I test rode an FJR back in 05 and joined this forum, i remember liking it but at the time there weren't any used and new ones here were 19k. I moved on and had several bikes between then and now.

My current ride is an 08 CBF1000 and my first sport tourer. I really like it and had it for a little over a year. I recently got the FJR bug again and cycle ergos show the two having nearly identical hand, seat and peg distances, seat height, and lean angle, so I know it would be a good fit but I forgot how it would ride compared to my CBF. And with many used FJRs out there I can easily make the swap without putting a 19k dent in my wallet, with an 08-10 being a likely candidate.

For my American friends that can't get the CBF, it's about 120-130lbs lighter with a 20l tank, 105hp and chain driven. Basically a slimmer Fjr.

So if someone wants to persuade me either way, lets have at it.

Thanks.

Well, the FJR is 120-130 lbs heaver, has a 25l tank, 142hp and shaft drive. Basically a.....FJR.

With so many used I'd suggest you go ride one and try. Many out there...probably in your area with somebody that might let you ride one.

The forum has gotten very rich over the years with tons of information and reports.

There are a few "salespeople" here that may give you the pitch you are asking for? Of course not paid in anyway, mainly cuz they simply love the FJR.

I agree with Iggy, test ride one and see how it compares with your riding style and likes. Since the '14 models were announced, it seems there has been an abundance of pre-owned Feejers available (everywhere).

Good luck.

Not completely the same, but I went from a 94 CBR1k to the FJR.

I had it with the beast, while I could sit in that saddle all day long, it had aged features. I got rid of it in 07 for an 07 FJR.

Better brakes

FI - got so fed up with dealing/cleaning the carbs

shaft drive

integrated bags

bigger tank and MUCH better mileage - that damn beast sucked the go fast juice more than any bike that I've had.

I'll tell you to skin the CBR, track prep it, get the FJR for the street and have fun in both realms. :)

No offence bud but your 94 Cbr is much different than my 08 CBF1000. You probably have never seen one.

It has as good brakes as the FJR

It has FI

No shaft

Yes integrated bags, a little smaller than the FJR though, but can fit a helmet

Has a 20liter tank, is better on fuel than the FJR, but not as much range

You really think I should skin this and make it a track bike...........

Dude, if you're in the market, you need to jump all over that deal out in Utah on this forum. 08 AE for 7200. What a steal. Do a fly and drive.

Gary

No, I don't.

It's a big and wonderful world full of options and surprises.

I have an 06 FJR and I love it, but my buddies 06 FJR I can barely ride.

It's all in the setup.

Good Luck

Man, I've been thinking about that bike all week and following it since it was mentioned. But its an 800 buck flight and 3k km trek back home, which takes a lot out of the deal.

Mid august and I'd make a camping trip holiday out of it, but mid October not so much. If it were a day ride, I'd be there tonight...

Very different bikes...have ridden CBF, couple buds have them, not in the same league.

For those unfamiliar, closest equivalent would be a Bandit 1250,which I've also ridden a fair bit.
