Can anyone provide me the part number to the NEW/IMPROVED Cam Chain Tensioner?

I just bought an 04 with 42,000 and plan on adding that part. Having Throttle Bodies synced and possibly new chain if old worn. Any reason to spring for platinum plugs?

These guys can...

TENSIONER ASSY, CAM 1MC-12210-00-00 (replaces 5JW-12210-01-00)

PS - Shop around for a better price. Boats.net has been the best lately [edit] I just checked and Boats.net is still listing the old part number.

These guys have the new one for $81 BoatPartGuys.com

TENSIONER ASSY, CAM
1MC-12210-00-00 (replaces 5JW-12210-01-00)

and

GASKET, TENSIONER CA
5JW-12213-00-00

The on-line parts fiche at most places show the new version.

Fred, you are faster on the lookup and post than I am !!

Boats.net seems to list the older part and for more money than these guys.

And IMHO no, there is no reason to spend extra for fancy spark plugs. My experience has shown that plain ol' $2.58 NGK spark plugs last at least 20k miles. That's about 2 yrs between changes for me. They've never been fouled, burned or damaged in any way.

Now I'm confused.

When I saw this post I had just ordered a replacement CCT from Partzilla. They were shipping me a 5JW-12210-10-00, which supersedes 5JW-12210-01-00. I informed them that I now need a 1MC-12210-00-00, they assured me that the one shipping was correct and is actually the same part, but there would be no problem exchanging it if I wanted to.

Anyway. My parts arrived today, the CCT has the required blue dot. Do I need to exchange it? Will I just get the same thing in a different box?

Thanks.

Al.

No, the blue dot is the real deal. This new 1MC number is a relatively new development. I'm certain now that mine wasn't 1MC. You're good to go.

(FWIW - the 1MC was what they called the ships intercom in the USN: )

"Now hear this. Now hear this. Sweepers...
Sweepers, sweepers, man your brooms...

Give the ship a good, clean sweep down, both fore and aft!

Sweep down all lower decks, ladder backs and passageways!

Dump all garbage clear of the fantail.

Now sweepers."

Phew! Thanks Fred!

So did you serve under McHale?

I only made it to the English Sea Cadets - bell-bottom pants were 'in' then.

Hey Al, don't forget to dremel a slot in the mounting bolts while doing this exchange! This was done for me by Bryan (AuburnFJR) last weekend at his Tech Day. It just helps putting things back together!

Thanks Mark, a good reminder. When I took the CCT out last winter to check it those bolts were a pita to remove/replace, even at eye level.

As an aside. I bought all three parts, delivered to my door, for less than the cost of a CCT locally - something's wrong with this picture.

Pretty typical, even here in the USA. I do all my part shopping and ordering online. I refuse to subsidize inept dealerships by paying list price on parts and then waiting (longer than when ordered online) to get them.

for me, the worse part is the only (2) local Yammy dealers will add a shipping charge cause they have to "special order"

idiots
