Man, this is going to trigger off a landslide of answers...

* Make sure the front wheel is aligned with the rest of the bike

* Hold the LH grip with your left hand to help balance the bike

* With your right hand grab the bike in the recess on the LH side

* With your right foot lower the centerstand tang

* Rock the bike a tad so as to feel both legs of the centerstand touch ground

* Climb on the tang while lifting with your right hand. (The idea is not so much to lift the bike -- no way Jose -- as push down on the centerstand tang).

Try it a few times. It's like skiing. You don't need superhuman legs, just the right style :agent: .

Once you've got that down you'll be amazed how easy it really is

Thanks Teerex, I give it a try. i know its just a matter of gettin the feel for it. Where is the recess for the right hand to lift ?

O.G., the recess is on the underside of the rear bodywork just in front of the forward left side upper bag mount.

Oldgoat,

Radman misunderstood the question  . He just read: "How do I get it up" and didn't realize you meant the bike on the centerstand :haha: :haha:

Here's where you stick your RH

Now I 've gotta ask you something. I just realized this was your 11th post...

What were your first 10 questions???? :D

Of course, the other option is to just pick the back wheel up off the ground and use your left foot to drop the centerstand into place. :arrowhead:

Here is how I do it:

While sitting on the bike, do the following:

1: Hold on to both handlebar grips

2: Deploy the side stand

3: With the left foot’s heel, bring the center stand to touch the ground (make sure both sides are in contact with the ground)

4: With your left foot’s heel still on the center stand, stand up and put all your weight on the left foot’s heel (pushing down on the center stand).

5: Gently, rock the bike towards the back (it should go up smoothly)

Tips:

- It is recommended to align the front tire with the bike,

- It is advisable to put the bike in neutral, although using the clutch will also work.

- Use the front tire break to prevent the bike from going back down (in case you have to stop half way through the procedure, or you want to do it one bit at a time)

- Don’t pull from the handle bars, but rather rock your body towards the rear of the bike (like if you were going to sit on the passenger seat)

- Practice on a NON-SLIPPERY surface before doing it at the gas pump. (don’t ask me how I know this

I have not tried this while being skinny; I weight 250+ lbs :bb2: so this technique might just work for me because of sheer kinetics.

If all else fails, use Viagra... :bleh:

Hope this helps.

Just kidding

thanks Fjr Rocha, i think the weight issuse is my problem, only 160 lbs. , need more a&& :D

First thing I tried was Viagra, still didn't help :D

I'm a bit, well, uh, height-challenged. I don't have any problems getting it up (I have 5 kids, k?). I have a bit MORE trouble getting the darn thing off the center stand. I can't reach the ground and it's hard to get the rear tire on the ground to ride it off. With all this weight, I have tried just using brute force while standing to the side.

Is there an easy way to get it down? I'm serious! You know the commercials -- having this condition for more than 4 hours may be a serious medical problem......

Is there an easy way to get it down?
1. Climb on and start the bike.

2. Drop her into first, let out the clutch, rev and hold about 6000 rpm

3. Hold onto the bars firmly

4. Lean back vigorously so that bike tips back onto rear tire.

Oh, did I forget to tell you that you should be pointing in a safe direction?

:yahoo:

teerex51, Did what you posted, can't believe how easy it goes up on the centerstand.

Thanks much appreciated :D

Didn't you guys get the "reverse" package on your FJR's??

That works wonders for getting it on the center stand.

Shift down one time from first (DOWN ON THE SHIFTER)

TURN BIKE OFF

HIT THE STARTER

BIKE should go in REVERSE.

It was a $500 option on mine.

Very funny replies.

Well, this is one way if you feel too short to do it while sitting on the bike.

NOTE - Be very careful

When the bike is on center stand, put down the side stand. Make sure bike is in neutral. Grab left handlebar and left passenger grab rail. Push bike forward from left side (walking with it) off of centre stand. Stop bike and lean it onto side stand, ensuring sidestand is all the way out !!

I have done that many times out of the garage before starting, but make sure bike is on even ground (not downhill).

If you are wimpy, don't do this.

- FJRottie is not responsible for any damage to your bike when attempting this -

I think it takes two people.

Person 1: picks up bike and lifts about 5ft in the air.

Person 2: reaches under and lowers center stand

Person 1: gently places bike back on the ground.

If you're really strong and can lift the bike one handed, then you could do it on your own, but I really wouldn't recomend it.
