centerstand adjustment?

Near where the centerstand attaches to the frame, there is an adjustment nut that runs up and down on what looks like a piston. With this hokey description, can anybody tell me what this is for? Does it adjust the frame of the bike relative to the swingarm? Should it make it easier to get the bike on the centerstand? If so, do I want it all the way up or all the way down to make it easier?

Ya know Howard, I believe you have found the rear shock rebound adjuster. A quick scan of the owners manual should confirm if this is true.

It won't make it easier to get your FJR on the center stand but it will make your ride and handling go from ****** to sweet and back to ****** as you crank on the adjuster. If you go to the other end of the shock and flip the lever from soft to hard it will make it slightly easier to get the bike on the center stand.

Besides, I think you may have satisfied my initial "WTF?" upon reading that description and trying to imagine what the heck was so different about Gen IIs that there was an adjuster of some sort on the center stand. That sorta unanswered puzzle coulda stuck with me all day. :blink:

I was under the impression there were 2 settings for the center stand, Down and Up ..

What you're seeing is the mounting location for the optional electro-hydraulic centerstand. The Superior Gen II's are all set up for this--it's a simple plug and play factory accessory. I haven't mounted one yet, because I'm still young and strong, but someday when I'm old and weak I'll get one for sure. Here's a pic of the part:

anyone have a part # for this I will try to check at the dealer but prefer to go online to see if I can get a better deal

When it's time to put the bike away I just park the bike and then crane the house over it.
