I'm in Beaver Dam, little more than an hour from Brookfield.
Hello Windjammer.

Beaver Dam is where I test rode the K1200LTE. I bought one at BMW Milwaukee and still have it. Now I have a 2005 FJR, and my wife wants her own bike. Oh my...I will need a detached motorcycle garage soon.

Quick, newbie question...I see there are "regional" FJR get-togethers, and I have heard of a "national", is that true? If so, how do I ge info on in.

My wife and I are going for a ride tomorrow...no place special, just breaking in the new ride. You have any suggestions? You going to be around tomorrow?

I am real new to the FJR1300, having just picked mine up two days ago, but I am interested in helping.
Can you tell me this: How many people attended the last one?

Where was it?

Can you show me the schedule?

How many people do you think might attend in 2006?

Thanks, I look forward to helping.

Can you tell me this: How many people attended the last one?

-- I think the final total for dinner was 63... there were others who came but didn't/couldn't stay for dinner.... 40+ FJR's

Where was it?

-- La Crosse Wi

Can you show me the schedule?

-- Fri - Show up, Bench Race

-- Sat - Ride, Eat dinner

-- Sun go home

How many people do you think might attend in 2006?

-- I would think you could get somewhere between 75 & 100 depending on when and what peoples schedules are... Alot of folks would come back...

How does the weekend of Sept 15-17, 2006 sound to all?

My wife and I will be in Sparta WI over this Labor Day weekend and if you want I can check with the Best Western where we're staying to see if they could accomadate us.

This is in the same general area as LaCrosse so the roads are nice and we shouldn't conflict with the National ride. It's close to Wildcat Mountain State Park and other fine roads. Plus it should be cooler than it was this year.

Let me know what you want to do and I'll start the ball rolling for ya's.

If the plan is to go this late in the year (not a bad thing at all) then maybe move it ahead another week or two and you'll catch the fall colors in full glory. Ride planning made easy by going here:

www.wisconsinmotorcycling.com

This site has a nice bunch of maps with excellent ride routes and road reports.

So, gnarrowe, it sounds like you are officially volunteering to plan or assist in planning CFO2006? Want help? Let me know, I'm willing to assist.

Windjammer,

I am willing to assist in planning CFO 2006 and will definitely need help in planning. I don't think one person could put it together and remain sane.

Wheaton,

As far as the dates are concerned if we push it back two weeks we'll be up there during Labor Day. I would rather avoid that weekend due to traffic. If need be we could push it back a week to September 8-10, 2006, weekend. This may avoid some of the leaf peepers as well as the summer heat. Any other dates come to mind?

I am all for a september date. I think organizing this by committee may be a good bet.

I volunteer to organize the door prizes and any corporate/vendor sponsors. My parents are a dealer in Manitowoc and a few of the items at the CFO were donated by them. I know I could get some better items with the extra lead time as well as contact this past year's sponsors and others. Growing up in the business and being from Wisconsin, I have a few names on a list. We are pretty close to Parts Unlimited, so I could probably get something going with them including Icon and other house brands.

I nominate grnarrowe to lead this pack for CFO 2006.

Again, I will volunteer to be the Sponsor Organizer.

Unless anyone has any issues with this, lets roll. :assasin:

@grnarrowe:

My post meant to confirm that I thought your original mid september dates were good...

I was against pushing it a couple of weeks later toward endseptember/beginningoctober.

It's hard to have a good ride if you are constantly running at a snails pace with a group of riders behind a cager.

Wheaton,

Got ya. I thought the mid September date was early enough to avoid the peepers of leaf. I can't stand being behind some cager on a nice road doing 10 MPH because they want to gawk at dying tress.

All,

So if everyone is in agreement we can set CFO 2006 for September 15-17, 2006 in Sparta WI.

I'll get the hotel and see if they can do a banquet dinner. Since there were 80 for this years CFO I'll start with that number and see if I can block 40 rooms at the Best Western. This is a newer hotel with 3 pools, excerise room, like we'd use that, a pub & resturant and expanded continental breakfast. I'll be up there over Labor Day and I have a contact at the hotel already.

Fastsilverfjr,

Go for the door prizes, I may be able to land a few as well.

Anyone want to put the rides together? If we start now and get everything set up over the winter all we'll have to do come September is show up and ride. :D

@grn-

I won't put rides together, but I can post a good route that we took this year at CFO.

It took into account County P(per opt8low) and WI 171 (per last year's November ride). It was a good ride - and featured on Trinibob's famous CFO video.

Also, rumour has it that onedriver is going crazy with his new GPS unit and riding every single county road in SW WI to scout them out. B)

I'd be willing to help with ride planning. I'm not that far from Sparta so I could pre-ride some routes to find good destinations and rest stops, etc. There's no shortage of good roads around that area. Before we commence the planning of rides, we need a rough schedule of events, so one can determine how long of a ride to plan. Any discussion on how many hours of road time would be acceptable for Saturday? Should some "exit route" options (routes leaving Sparta in different directions) be given out for Sunday's ride home? Post up!!

Windjammer,

To return back to the motel around 5 or 6p.m. would be my suggestion.
