Hats with FJR logo?Stickers? (CFO-logo'd)
SFO had this stuff available on the CafePress site also. I think we should just let them handle these type of things also. Keep the registration process as simple as possible.

I would be willing to work the logo again for CFO if you would like. And then I can send it to cafe press.

Mike

Mike-

You probably mean that CFO had stickers and caps on the CafePress site? Caps can be there, but to my knowledge, CafePress does not have stickers, the last time I checked.

And about the logo, are you referring to the round "FJR Pilot" logo? So you'll create something in PhotoShop specifically for CFO 2008, or....? It has to be an image file completely finished and ready for printing. I am able to import it to the CafePress site.

They had a variety of stuff for SFO, but maybe stickers wasn't one of them. I thought I would come up with a different logo for CFO in 08. Maybe incorporating that pilot again but with a different look just to keep it fresh. We have a little time. Although it would be nice to have something to put on the web site when it gets going in a couple of weeks. I don't have to, just thought I would offer.

The registration fees look good to me. I'd say lets just make it a even 40.00 and that we would be covering ourselves for any unexpected things that pop up and to possibly leave a little seed money for the next run.

I just peeked at CafePress and they offer stickers.

Bill - I wouldn't want you to provide something that you paid for. If you google for lanyards, you'll find a load of places that offer custom lanyards. Maybe if we didn't put the year on it we could keep using them. (bulk rate) Put "CFO Rally - FJR1300" or something? I didn't check any sites for pricing.

Today I set up dedicated PayPal and bank accounts for CFO. For someone to send money via PayPay, the address is: jackson8888 at yahoo.com Let's don't put the actual email address on the web site. Disguise it like I did so spammers can't automatically harvest it.
There will be a $2.50 per month service fee on the bank account unless we have a minimum balance of $100, so I hope that soon we can collect a few registration fees to meet that minimum. I put $10 of my own $$ in there just to get things started.

What types of things, other than the meal, do we need to cover with the registration fee?Meal -

Name tags - lanyards

munchies/beverages (sodas/water, multiple days, for after-ride gatherings?)

Trinkets of some sort - the pins were nice, what other items (keychains?) could we get that are useful and cheap?

Hats with FJR logo?

Stickers? (CFO-logo'd)
All of those are good ideas. But the caps will be available at CafePress. I don't know that we need to decide right now exactly what trinket's we'll provide, but we do need to decide what our budget will be.....that is, what we expect to spend on the meal, munchies, and trinkets.

Mike, what did the meal cost us last time? Wasn't it close to $20 including tax and tip?

Peter.... what do you think? If we order salad, entree, drink (iced tea or soda), and dessert...... We did not order a dessert last time, and one of the entrees did not come with a salad.

To get things started, how about this? (feel free to chime in with additional input)

PER PERSON COST ESTIMATES:

Meal: $22-25

Munchies: $5

Trinkets: $5

Supplies (name tags; I have lanyards we can use): $2

Bank account fees: $1

If any $$ are left over, we (or someone) can use it as seed funds for the next CFO.
Sorry for taking so long to respond. Took on a new job at work so a little busy at the moment. I like what Bill's suggested, and I think the dollar amounts ($40-50 bucks) seem on target. Personally, I'd rather bring in a little more than run the risk of coming up short and roll the remainder over to the next event, but I don't see any need to go higher than $50.

Ok. Getting the ball rolling on the website.
I'm going to have a friend's web design/hosting company set it all up. Including the registration of the domain cforally.org.

I'll figure out how to pay him (if he sends an invoice), but it's going to be a simple site and he said he'd just put it on his shared-host plan. I didn't think more than 100 people would view the site.
This reminds me that we need to figure the cost of registering the domain name and any web site development costs into the registration fee. Right now I'm thinking $45 plus the above costs.

I think the development will be free. I'm not sure about the hosting yet. The registration would be somewhere between $5-$15/yr.

As soon as I get the costs associated with this site I will email or post.

I will not pretend to know what I'm asking here because I am green with this type of stuff. Is there some kind of generic web soft ware used to make sites like this. With pics and links being able to be used. Or how does all this type of stuff work. Or do you have to know a computor language and be able to right this all up yourself?

I'm not asking because I want to put input into it. I am just curious how this works because I would like to put up a web site for my business someday. (with somebodies help of course) you don't think I'm capable of this type of stuff do you?

Mike

There are lots of applications you could put on your computer to make a website. There are 3 steps, at it's very basic level, which includes getting a domain name (the www.whateveryouwanthere.com), a server online to put the files, and the files you create to show the world.

Email me and we'll have this discussion separate from the forum.

I'm not getting much in the way of help from the buddy who said he'd make and host the site, so I think I'm just going to run with it on my own.

The hosting will be roughly $30/year (unless that company's rates have changed)

Registering the domain will be $8.75/year

I'll see about getting it functional by this weekend. I'm registering the domain tonight so it won't work until probably Friday or Saturday. I will post when it's up and ready for everyone to look at.

Don't get your hopes up, I'm not a professional web developer :)

Is there are place we can have a list of people coming? Maybe a thread of its owjn to show who has signed up, or maybe on the web site, a page that tells who has signed up?

Just wondering if its possible.

Possible, yes. Automatic, no. I can get reports and figure it out tonight during a pre-season NFL game :)
