I just rode many of these roads with the MN-MSTA this last weekend. Let me tell you they are some fantastic roads, never knew some of these gems existed in the Upper Midwest.
For those of you looking to get some GREAT riding in on Friday, this will satisfy. There are still lots of areas to hit up on Saturday, which is my goal as well.
If you're staying overnight on Thursday at the CFO Days Inn, Wabasha is about an hour ride to wake you up and get you going. If you're like me and coming down Friday morning for the rest of the CFO weekend, this is a great place to meet on the way down from the Twin Cities.
I would like to get a group of 5 or more together for this ride. However, if just one or two others are interested I will still do the ride. If 8+ want to ride we will probably split into two groups slightly spread apart.
Be familiar with the PACE riding style as seen here. https://www.fjrowners.ws/pace.html Emphasis will be on the curves and not the straights - although I do enjoy running 3rd gear up in between the twists! We will be respectful to drivers we pass and through the small towns we drive through. I do run the FJR to a level many question if physics allows. I'm sure there are many more skilled FJR riders but if you are looking for a sporty ride you should be pleased. Others can lead if they want to pick up the pace and are comfortable following a route sheet. I will moderate the pace so that all FJR riders who have some experience will be able to stay together.
