Edited for double post
Thank You Brother Bill, you were reading my mind; even though mi Cabeza's like reading a small book, actually just a little pamphlet really! I was a little shocked by the $120 CAN for the Digby to Saint John ferry, but no matter; at my advanced age, this may be my only trip left to Eastern Canada. Just like you plotted, after CFR we cross the PEI bridge to stay in Charlottetown. Then the Wood Islands to Pictou ferry, to return us to Truro in Nova Scotia. We are excited about seeing Eastern Canuckistaniland! There is a Canadian invention called a bridge that gets you onto PEI that will allow you to visit the potatoes. Make sure to say hello to Bud the Spud while you are there. There is a ferry that takes you from the east side of PEI but you shouldn't need reservations for the time of year that we will be there since tourist season will not be in full swing. If you are heading from Halifax to Fredericton via Truro you won't get your feet wet. There's some nice riding along the coastline of the Bay of Fundy but I'll let the Maritimers give you the best routes.Really, Really?? Then feel THIS! Hey Hosers, your Zonie Cousin needs some inside Canuckistani advice! I am booking the lodgings on Prince Edward Island and in Halifax that Canadian FJR has recommended. Do I need to book ferry reservations ahead of time? In Europe, Mexico and Alaska on previous M/C journeys, you just show up on a motorcycle and they put you on first and reservations are never required. You won't get a stateroom, unless one is vacant and you then pay extra, you are just sitting in the lounge for the passage. So what's up and take off eh, book ferry tickets ahead of time for SethBeetle and Papa Chuy, eh???I'm NOT feeling the love Don, you goober!!!
If you are going to insist on getting your sea legs there is a ferry that runs across the Bay of Fundy between Digby NS and Saint John NB.
The cost for Seth and some fossil on a FJR is $120 CAN one way. Here is a link to the ferry info - Digby - Saint John Ferry. You can pick up some apples along the way as you run through the valley. It's pretty easy to get on with a bike but I would grab a reservation 24 hours in advance just to be sure.
By the way it's almost 2 times cheaper to get a bike & rider from Cape Breton to Newfoundland which is more than twice as far as it is from Digby to Saint John. It's a Maritime thing.
Here is the info on the PEI ferry - PEI ferry schedule. Don't bother trying to pass yourself off as a kid and ride for free. You can't pull it off Don.
I really hope you are planning on riding up to Cape Breton to run the Cabot Trail if this is going to be your last trip east. No ferry ride required to get to Cape Breton Island since you cross over on the causeway unless the Cape Breton Island Liberation Army go through with their plans to blow it up.Thank You Brother Bill, you were reading my mind; even though mi Cabeza's like reading a small book, actually just a little pamphlet really! In July of 2002 I attended the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America International Rally held in Trenton, Ontario at Centennial Park; the Rallymaster was Don "The Kiltmeister" Faichney and the Canucks put on a fantastic event! In June of 2010 I attended CFR in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec; also an incredibly fun riding and drinking FJR Forum party! But other than those two brief forays, I have never been farther East than Regina before. That is why Son Seth and his Papa Chuy are so excited by this CFR, a chance to see 3 new CA Provinces and stay in 3 Provincial Capitols!
Thanks Canadian FJR, that is good advice! We are thinking of taking the Digby ferry just to do something different, there are not a lot of ferries in Arizona; riding a ferry and seeing the sea is unique to we Zonies, though we do have a ferry over the Colorado River to Utah in Northern Arizona! You're right, we will just call from our hotel the night prior to sailing, and just reserve spaces for us and our bike with a credit card.Just switching over to this channel so sorry for the delay. If you stick to the first plan then you will only need one ferry from PEI to Pictou, Nova Scotia. We have never had a problem getting on the boat over the last few years. With that being said, why take the chance. When you settle down for the night prior just make the call.

It would be our 1st day of the FJR Rental and 1st day of CFR: Monday, June 20. MapQuest shows 7.5 hours of travel time and 300 miles ridden. Looks like an easy and scenic day in the saddle."We are thinking of taking the Digby ferry just to do something different"
What day are you plannng to take this ferry? I might be able to help with some routes.

Still doesn't beat this spot...Here's another neat little spot to check-out.

You may run into a problem with the ferry schedule. As far as I am able to determine the ferry sails from Digby at 08:00 and 16:00 with a crossing time of over 3 hours. Assuming you leave Truro at a reasonable hour you won't make the 08:00 crossing and would put you into Fredericton after dark.It would be our 1st day of the FJR Rental and 1st day of CFR: Monday, June 20. 1600h sailing from Digby with 3 hours of sailing time should put Don and Seth at the Silverwood by 2100h at the latest. They're really efficient at off-loading and it's an hour ride from SJ to Freddy. It's not dark until 2130-2200.You may run into a problem with the ferry schedule. I'll watch the schedule, Don. It's not been published yet past April. Many thanks My Friends, for the local CA knowledge. Starting to look like the Digby to Saint John ferry is not going to work out schedule wise! I was hoping that like the Alaska Marine Highway System I am familiar with, that they would add more sailing times during the summer months, with additional vessels.
Hola Senorita Maria Elena "Muy Bonita", Seth and I'd love it if you accompany us from Truro to Fredericton on Monday, June 20! It'd be "Mas Caminos y Mas Amigos"!I'll watch the schedule, Don. re: ride to Freddy from Truro, I can get to Halifax in just over 4 hours.
