So it's time for me to install a new chain on my CBR954. Acutally, its a little past time. My chain is making noises that are becoming a little unnerving.

Does anyone here have chain riveting tool that they would be willing ship me? I'd hate to drop $100 just for the tool, but I'll do it if no one has one they can let me borrow.

Sorry Man, had one until my next door neighbor borrowed it about a month ago and broke it in half.

:(

If you have to buy one, might I suggest you check with RockyMountianMC.com. They carry their own line of tools in the brand "Tusk" and my experience has been good with them. Not so pricey as MotionPro and others.

Vec, I have one but it will be this weekend before I can get it back from my buddy. This tool will only work on masterlinks that have a dimple in the end of the masterlink pin. If this will work for you send me a PM with your address and I will priority mail it to you on monday. Smitty

Now I just need to decide if I want to do a 520 conversion, or stick with a 530 setup. :umm:

Don't forget to check both sprockets for back toothing before you replace the chain.....just an FYI...in case you didn't know......(no slight intended)..... .....

Well, as much as I'd like to save the money and not buy new sprockets I know probably should. This is why I'm considering the 520 coversion now. I'm not sure if the weight reduction is worth it though. From what I understand, the 530 chain will last alot longer than a 520 chain. I'm all about not having to change this chain any time soon!

If your not racing (looking for that all important slight edge) why sweat the weight which is really minimal all things considered?

Oops double post...sorry....

Well, its also a matter of price. 520 sprockets and chains are cheaper than 530 sprockets and chains. Its about a $50 price difference overall.

Look into Motion Industies. They have city sales here in town and sale pretty much anything that has to do with motion from hydro fluid and hoses to O-rings and chains. If you can tell me exactly what you need I can prob pick it up and ship it. My chain tool was $20-30 IIRC.

Sorry just saw the thread. Hell they prob have sprockets also. I have bough chain from them before and new master links.

They prob made the **** then sold it to motion pro
