Chain's still "jumping", now what?

Hi Fred,

It was really weird.

I was with an ex FJR rider, (brought his FJR over with him from the USA), when we replaced the CCT.

After we did the job, we started it then and twice the following day. The day after that, when the whole bike was back together, terrible noises on start up.

It ran 3 times before the "noise" started.

I think the chain must of slackened off just a tiny bit and "whipped"

When we removed the cover, the chain was supper tight.

When I removed the cam covers, the cams all good and lined up.

I was having nightmares of major damage.

I'll just be more careful on the next CCT replacement.

Gentlemen,

Thanks so much for the analysis, suggestions and such.

I feel more at ease with the "noise" now and will take the advice you guys seem to agree on, "no worries, just ride the damn thing". It has served me well, so far, and I hope to pile on at least another 60,000 miles over the next couple of years.
