Thanks to the alternative activities availible at Cumberland Falls, I know I will have at least one day of solo "go play" time. After riding on the Appalachian Trail back in May, the dirt road out of Burkes Garden should be a piece of cake...

The road OUT of Burkes Garden carries a VA state road number and everything. Depending on recent weather conditions, it can be 11 miles of the most fun you've had, 2-up, fully-loaded, on an FJR. Or so I've been told.

The terrain maps give you some perspective of the drop. Once you start down, there's no way off the road and nearly zero chance of turning around. It's awesome!!! (So I've been told.)

We were just by there over the weekend! Came across 61 from Paint Bank and went just north of Burkes Garden. I really enjoyed riding in Va. I'll have to put this in the gps...

May consider doing the Devils Triangle. It's not far from Cumberland Falls. Maybe going to or on the way back from the Dragon.
