For the past several years a good friend and I have gotten together over the Memorial Day weekend to catch up on the goings on in our lives. It is much better in person than over the phone/computer. This year we have chosen the Chattanooga area to meet and ride. Some background info. Both of us are seasoned riders and don’t mind riding to find good roads and/or sights. He is coming from the Warsaw Indiana area and I will be riding up from the Daytona, FL area. We will get to the area on Friday and be leaving for home on Monday.

We are going to motel (an inexpensive one) it this trip. Most likely just use it as a base area to ride from and to, rather that motel to motel. Does anyone have any suggestions as to decent and reasonably priced motels?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to riding routes? We like scenic, curvy and interesting roads. We will have 2 full days to find and ride the area.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I’m sure the helpful members of the forum will have many suggestions. When you come to Bikeweek or Biketoberfest, just send me a shoutout.

Well as you already know you are just a couple hours ride from the Dragon, the Cheroahala Skyway, and I am assuming that riding along the top of Lookout Mountain would be a good ride also. I have heard that North Georgia has some fantastic roads also. Either way just getting away for a while and doing some riding with a good friend it really doesn't matter about the roads or the scenery. I hope that the folks in Tennessee show you folks a good time.

Glenn,

Thanks for the info, all places we have discussed or have been already. More planning to be done.

You are o right about riding with a good friend. The road does not really matter.

If you would like a tour guide for that weekend, I might available, but that's a long way out. I grew up in Chattanooga and currently live between Atlanta and Chattanooga. I know all the good roads in the area.

Mr. Twisty,

Thank you so much for the gracious offer. It is an idea for us to really kick around. My original trip for just my friend an me, has grown to about 5 or 6 riders from various parts of the country all coming together in Chattanooga for the weekend. PM me your email and we can discuss more. I'm thinking a mix or riding and some taking the 'sights/attractions' of the area might ba a good idea. Always ready to listen to ideas.

I was wondering about the web and found this site that may be of interest to you. www.bikersdozen.com . It appears to have about 13 routes around the Chattanooga area. Hope this helps a little.
