While aimed at car drivers, the composition of tires on bikes (and how they age) is similar. More importantly, bike tires don't give you the leeway of 2 more tires to stay upright during a failure. There's also more extreme side-loading on bikes' tires.

In the last 10 minutes I: read the initial post, visited the website, bought a tire, got notified by the website (after I bought the tire) that it was an old tire, read down the thread, called the site, and cancelled my order.

Did Michelin stop producing PR2s?

I was under the impression they were available

"while supplies last".

(Disclaimer- I don't know). I have heard/read that PR2's were no longer in production, then that 2's were back and 3's were no longer in production over and over again. I only know what I can find online.

sportbiketrackgear.com use to sell the PR2's in pairs, for a great price, I stopped buying from them when they discontinued the pair pricing, and started selling them separately. These tires are probably what they could not get rid of. I have heard that the PR2's will be discontinued...that's why I'm trying a set of the new RS3's.

For $3 more I just scored a T30GT (non-EVO) front tire from Jake Wilson, which is a tire that I like a whole lot more than a PR2. I think I may have got the last one. I'm really just here to gloat.
