Cheap FJRs in Florida

What's going on in Florida?

After recently seeing some folks post ads of AE FJRs that are for sale in their area for seemingly high prices I went looking for some of the cheap AEs that have been on ebay and cycletrader in the past. Well, I didn't find any at this time, but I did find a few ads for new FJRs with INCREDIBLE prices in Florida.

Are the legit? Anybody have knowledge of these dealers?

The lowdown:

Brand new 2007 AE 'starting' at $11,852

Brand new 2008 AE for $11,699

Brand new 2009 'A' for $11,999 Smokin Deal! Does anybody know what D&H is charging for an 09 'A' model?

 
Central/South Florida have always had the best prices I could find throughout the southeast on any bike I was pricing. The couple I bought new, I took South Florida Quotes to my local dealer and told them to come within 300.00 (my ~travel costs to go get it) to get my business and they did both times. Each time 2-3K off typical sticker. However none were as expensive as the FJR.

My guess is that is has to do with volume sales due to the ability to ride all year. Meaning there is no off season for sales so they don't need bolster sales in the spring/summer.

The following was true when I posted it last fall.

This will be close for Yamaha --> If MSRP is $13,899 the dealer invoice will be ~84% = $11,675 The dealer then gets a 2% hold-back from Yamaha when the motorcycle is sold = $233.50 The zero profit price for a dealer would be $11,441.50

 
Notice the 07 is priced higher then the 08, and aalmost the same as the 09? I'm guessing the "popular" one would be the 07. woo hoo!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

If I did the math right, then the Dealer would show a $369.83(including the admin fee) profit on the 09 based on the same assumption.

Then sells a Y.E.S. and "needed accessories" with service and he off to the races.

What with Lakeland being the "center of commerce" in the "flat state" he's rich in no time. :glare:

Or model year '07 was when the motorcycle bubble was starting to burst and '08 models were oriced to sell. Or manufacturing savings or other corporate internal events allowed savings which were passed on fro '08... who knows? It couldn't be the color. ;) :p

Note that Lakeland also tacks on a $300 administration fee, plus any taxes.

A dealer can sell 1 motorcycle for $1k profit or 3 @ minimum pricing and still realize nearly $1k profit. The dealer that sells 3 bikes may then sell 3 bikes worth of options and warranties. It is most likely that the dealer will have 3 motorcycles coming to his shop for service too.

If motorcyle dealers operate like car dealers they receive a bike and after a time period they have to start paying the manufacturer interest on the bike until they sell it. If that is how it works at some point it becomes more expensive to keep the bike than to reduce the price greatly and sell it.

I do not know if m/c dealers operate the same way but that might explain why some dealers offer good deals on left over bike. It works well for those looking for a ride at a good price.

 
Maybe none of 'em start.

For what it's worth, I paid $10,500 out the door for my '06 A at Chicago Cycle in Dec '06. At that time, they were $1,500 less than the lowest bid from any dealer in the midwest. FAIR WARNING: You really have to hold their feet to the fire or they WILL tack on extra fees and try to sell you extra services, warranties,etc. Ride on!

As an unbiased observer, it is quite obvious that the 07 is priced higher because it's a more popular commodity. Is it color? Is it the year? Is it because really, really cools guys in Southern California ride them? My money is on the latter, but who knows really.

 
Q: When did heated gtrips become standard equipment for the 'A' models?

Up in Canada it was with the '07 model year. If the same in the US, it could explain the price increase.

 
They're just trying to sell bikes, because nobody is. I was hanging out with a friend who owns a dealership, and he didn't sell anything over Christmas. The deals he was offering were fantastic, too. He tried to sell me a couple of bikes... and if I had the money, I would have bought one.

I think that's the way it is, all over. With gas prices back to where they ought to be, I don't see a big Spring coming, either. Prices are likely to stay reasonable - or even go down.

P.S.: Heated grips were an option on the '07 A model, here in the States.

 
I bought my '08 from Skye Powersports 3 months ago. It had been traded back to them with 600 miles on it. I paid 10,500 for it with 9 months left on warranty. Let me look at options, but didn't try to pressure me into anything. I bought it at their Lake Wales, FL dealership. They probably thought I would be back to buy some factory options. All in all I'm Happy!!!!! :D

Around here no one seems to even know what an FJR is. Dealers probably have a hard time moving them, so comes the price drops.

I wasn't aware any A model in the US came with factory heated grips.

 
Has to do with the crazy broker who faked his own death in an airplane headed for FL and tried to get away on a red Yamaha motorcycle with saddle bags. Folks are trying to avoid guilt by association.
