Since many of you are about to depart for Reno, let us quickly go over the Check-In process.... where to go, what to do, etc.

Arrival at the Reno Hilton:

Typically, attendees will exit off of HWY 395 onto Mill St, go approx 1 block and turn left at the light and into the Reno Hilton South Entrance. You're basically following the blue line drawn below, and you will be parking under the *massive* concrete awning known as the "Porte Cochere", which is circled in yellow below:

WFO-5 Check-In Room:

Enter the Hilton's lobby thru the south entrance, and there should be signs that say "To WFO Check-In" and will show you the way to the Lobby Escalators that you'll take down one flight to the Arcade Promenade and all the Convention areas.

The Nevada Room is conveniently located immediately off the escalators; you can't miss it. Enter the Nevada Room as shown below and follow the green line that leads to Room "N-12"

Room "N-12" is THE official WFO-5 Registration/Check-In room. Your WFO-5 adventure starts here!

Once you enter the Check-In Room, Lisa "IronMaiden" Stevens and her Staff will check you in, provide you with your rallyshirts if you bought them, your banquet tickets, attendance bracelets, parking stickers, nametags, etc.

Also at Check-In will be the FJRForum.com "Karma Jar", that attendees may cram a couple greenbacks into to help keep this fine forum running strong. Those that desire a "free" Throttle Bottle Synch will have to drop a $20 or more to obtain a TBS "receipt" that you can use to have me do a TBS on your bike Friday or Saturday (schedule for that will be in the Nevada Room. Note there will only be a limited number of TBS receipts available... I can't spend the entire weekend doing TBS's!

Questions?

Questions?
Is my name for my reserved parking under the shade going to be stenciled on the asphalt, or on one of those cute little signs?

Seriously, thanks for the great planning! This will make my stumblng around, lost, bothering strangers in the lobby all the more embarassing.

I leave toward Reno at 0-dark-thirty Monday. T minus 3 days and change, and counting. w00t!

Per the WFO website, check in still starts at 10 AM on Thursday? And Wednesday arrivals should park where until official check-in?

Thanks for the info, WC.

TurboDave, BlueStreek and I are arriving Wednesday afternoon/evening - may we still park in the same location at that time?

Thanks!

Save a parking space for me too! If the plan comes together, MCRIDER007 and I will be in early afternoon Wednesday along with FJRChooser a little later.

See ya there.

Only if you come down to N-12 Wednesday evening to help Lisa's staff assemble the Check-In packets!

j/k.... yes, of course, you may park there when you arrive, HOWEVER, do note that the next morning when you offically check in, ensure you put your parking sticker on your bike so it doesn't get towed away Thursday evening. Any bike parking under the Porte Cochere without a WFO-5 parking sticker will be subject to removal by the Reno Hilton security.... ONLY registered attendees get to enjoy the luxury of secure, shaded parking.

Yes, it is. We might be ready around 9:30-ish or so, but no promises......

Regarding late arrivals:

[work issues] Right now I'm looking at working on Thursday, getting an early afternoon start out of So-Cal and getting into Reno maybe 10:00 p.m. Thurs. night.

Check-in Friday morning? before heading out on day ride, perhaps?

Thanks.

You bet... someone will be at the N-12 Check-In room most all day Thursday (well... 10am-4pm, break for a couple hours, then maybe 6-8pm for later arrivals), and again the Friday morning from about 9-:30-ish until early afternoon, or until everyone has checked in, whichever occurs first.

That having been said, I'll remind everyone that Lisa Stevens is actually in charge of all aspects of Check-In/Registration, so she might adjust these hours if she sees fit - that's her call.

What's going on in Reno?
The parking lot is so huge we're sponsoring a contest to see who can do 2000+ miles in 24 hours.

You should come!

We'll put you on the roof with a pair of bincoulars and you can be the official lap counter.

"....one thousand four hundred and seventy five.....one thousand four........."

just to add fact and confusion:

the hotels NEW NAME is: grand sierra resort

tho, they say the hilton signs are still up...

So when we arrive on Thurs. we won't get towed if we park under the veranda without a parking sticker while were getting checked in to get our parking sticker.....boy I can be a pain.....painman. <>< :D

Does Lisa and her staff check us in for our rooms, too, or is that a separate affair? If so, is that up one flight in the lobby, or some other county in the hotel?

Where's the pool bar? :D

No, check-in to the hotel is a separate affair. It's upstairs not too far from the entrance Dale highlighted...in the shadow area to the NW.

The pool bar would be fairly close to the pool.

Hmm.. sounds simple enough. This of course means I'll screw it up somehow...
Due to your reputationat group parking :dribble: we are considering a "special" provision for you. I think I can get a couple of airbags from the freight company I work for, and........
