Well, the ride went off on time as we pulled out of Mt. Horeb about 9:15. 2 others showed up with Tanya and I to run the backroads up to Rockton-saw quite a gathering of feejers sitting in a parking lot in Spring Green, anybody here? Made Rockton in time to get the first batch of chickens off their grill. It was still overcast and chilly at this point with electrics plugged in and the coffee mugs were hot. Went up to Ontario for the gratuitous run up the Wildcat Mt., then down 33 to 162 to the ole Miss.. Sky cleared and the sun peaked out- it warmed up pretty good. Crossed over to explore Iowa, at Lansing, to see some backroads on their side of the river and get some REALLY cheap gas!?($2.72) The town park that sits up on a bluff has a great view of the river valley and a WWI memorial as well. Park is named after a girl who won the footrace up to it, in 1851, on a steamboat layover. (boiler repairs or waiting for some fresh whiskey mash?) Came back across the river @ Prairie du Chien and booked home down 18/151 to finish it off with some more 2 lane. Just a tick over 400 miles and 10 hours. As Larry had mentioned in another thread it's great to have folks show up in full gear with great attitudes.
