I tried the search and couldn't find anything. If I errored just send this where it belongs please. Is anyone riding in the Toys for Tots ride this year in Chicago on Dec. 2nd? I'm going but was wondering if anyone form the forum was going also. Any information you want you will find here2007 Chicagoland Toys for Tots ride.

I'm glad you asked, Artistic Rider. I'm officially "on the fence" with the TFT ride this year, however, both Jon and Cougar8000 have brought it up to me in PMs and I was hoping SOMEONE was going to get an FJR group together.

As soon as I will be able to see what wqether will be like I will make a post with a meeting place etc unless someone wants to step up.

Man, I was planning on this ride w/ some of my CFD peeps until this happened

Somethings cracked and not lined up right here :glare:

OK. Always dreamed of riding in this since I was in the Marines. I'm taking donations at my job to try and get as much as I can in my saddlebags. Maybe we can find a place along 87th or 95th street for coffee before the ride (or hot chocolate to get in the mood of the season).

Ed, stop crying. That ankle look perfectly fine to me. Get your arse of the couch and get on the bike :)

Man, if you want we can all stop by and have lunch with you somewhere close to you if you want to. Just wistle. You have my number, right?

Ok, looks like it will be cold, but riding weather. Sounds like you leave on the south side. If you can scout a good location to get together before the ride post up.

Who else is coming so I can plan on a meeting places?

As English might say, RUBISH. I rode with my left ankle broken in two places. :dribble: :)

I figured we got to eat anyway after the ride. We might as well eat in your company.

Kids are ok. Last 3 weeks is a roller coaster. At least someone in the family is under the weather.

I'm leaning towards it and I'm going to throw out a suggestion for a meeting place.......to be altered if anyone has a better idea:

At the 95th Street exit on southbound 294, there's a Denny's restaurant. That's about 7.5 miles from the staging area for the ride (83rd & Western). If a group wanted to meet there and have a quick greasy breakfast, they could take 95th street east to Ridgeland Avenue north to 87th Street east to Western Ave.

If anyone knows a better breakfast place (that's open VERY early) closer to the staging area, speak up.

If the weather isn't too horrible, I'm game. I've done this ride a few times in the past and it's pretty cool. It's better towards the front of the crowd tho. They send the bikes out in stages so as to not completely cut off cross traffic for the duration and it tends to get broken up in the latter sections and you kind of miss some of the blocked intersections.

Larry,

excellent starting point. We just need to see if any folks that are close to the lake are coming and if it will work for them as well.

Gary, let me know if you want to meet up either Schumburg area or along 294.

Here is a web site for more info LINKY to TFT

Line up starts at 6:00am and starts at 9:30. We better get there before 8:30 to be somewhere near the front. Even that will be pushing it. Once you get into the park you can't move, so if we don't get together we will never meet.

I was really thinking about doing this, but HOLY CRAP I would have to leave my house at about 4 am to make it on time. What time are you thinking of meeting for breakfast? I guess I can sleep when I'm dead.

I think you have found the best place for us to meet at that time. How about 6:30 or 7am? Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to get there after breakfast.

The earlier to the staging area, the better. Jon is riding with another group and is planning to get there by 7:00. Alex suggested being there by 8:30.....I think 7:30 is probably a better target. I agree that it should only take about 15 minutes to get from Denny's to the staging area. That means leave Denny's by 7:15. It's looking like I'm in and as long as everyone agrees on that timetable, I'll be at Denny's at 6:30.

The question is....WHO ELSE IS COMING???

So far, of the 35 Chicagoland area forum members, it looks like just Artistic Rider, Cougar8000 and myself?!!!

Weather is looking very iffy for this Sunday. So, if you are not going to the ride please don't forget to stop by your local Police/Fire department and drop off the toy or two. Kids who have no toys for the holiday should not suffer because of a bad weather.

Screw the weather. I'm riding!!!! I'll be at Denny's in my frogtogs and we shall see how it goes from there. The bike is in the garage already loaded since I'm working a double shift tomorrow and won't have time after work. Maybe we will even get a Christmas miracle and its 50 degrees and dry  Seeya at 6:30.
