I saw this on the news last night. The CHP recieved a grant to add more patrol's to the "snake" on Mullholland near the rock store. Be careful out in that area and dont be a Squid :p

At least you have the weekdays to visit and have the road all to yourself :D

I never understood the squids that would hang out at the same corner all day going back and forth. You see the same on Palomar. That is not my idea of a good ride.

I'm sure what draws those types to both locations are the photographers at both locations.

Hey stranger. Hows it going?

Thats so true. I have a pic of a photog taking a pic of the wife and I before she had her own bike from the exact corner they are talking about in the video. I only went by once.

Hi Dan, I'm doing well.

I remember when you first showed the picture of the photographer taking a picture of you folks taking a picture... ...you squid, you...

:D

Rode both roads on a weekday, not a squid or a chipmunk in sight...probably wouldn't go either place on a weekend, allergic to both squids and chipmunks.

Yeah Sam, Don Carver also hates chipmunks with a vengeance! He kills them on sight, the Ruthless *******!

A friend of mine retired from LA Fire some years back. His station covered that road. Many many trips down the canyon to fetch some under-geared squid and his pillion. The stories were almost enough to put you off riding. At least there.

I would like to see CHP out there on patrol bikes or UC bikes

There's a El Lay County motor cop that patrols that stretch, we met him at the Rock Store. He was unhappy about his "work" ride, a new RT, and wished he could ride his own bike, you guessed it, a FEEJ!!! :yahoo: :yahoo:

Back when I was a kid, the county put oil and gravel across that whole section of Mulholland in the guise of "road maintenance". Sure slowed everybody down. I'm surprised they're not doing it again.

I ride up there pretty regularly actually since Mullholland is sooo close to my house I can be at the Snake literally in 20 minutes.

I usually ride up there earlier in the morning (before 10:00 a.m.) before the Squids show up in force and traffic is light in general.

Lower Mullholland (from Kanan to PCH) is still one of my favorite roads, but that could be for nostalgic purposes since that was the first really good motorcycling roads I did when I first started riding.

I got nailed by CHP last weekend coming down Kanan in the AM after riding the snake. It was holiday weekend so shame on me but early AM = no traffic. Def seen a greater chper presence the last couple weeks. Proceeded to several othe BU canyons and home B4 noon...

Just there last weekend in the early PM, not a CHP'er in sight. I had no fear as we were being escorted by two Ducati's.

Wait, scratch that there was one on Kannan. He was headed toward the Rock Store from the 101 area, probably returning from a lunch break. We were in that big dual lane sweeper and I was off the seat and shoulder into the turn when we spotted each other, he sat up in his saddle, I righted the bike and he saw the bags and continued on his way. What?

Took that as a sign, kept the throttle down till we got to Boquet Canyon... Then ummm...welll... you know. :yahoo:
