Took the wife out for a New Years Day ride. First extented ride with her on the back. Long story short: stop sign on a downhill street that sloped to the left. Wasn't paying attention, forgot about the extra weight on the back, let the bike lean too far to the left, and over we went. No catching it, but we let it down easy so just a few paint scratches on the mirror, the rear bag, and the crankcase cover. Could have been worse; my fault entirely. Color Rite, here I come. I guess I do need those frame sliders.

Welcome to the club! I managed to scrape on of my bags against a car's bumper. Not enough rubbing compound in the world will make it 100%

Yep, :( Add me to the list. On a ride today stopped at a stop sign put my foot down and lost my footing on some gravel. Started to tip over on the right side tried to hold it up but was unable to do so I then tried to let it down as gently as I could. The results were worse due to the half inch gravel it fell on. got my right bag and mirror and the point of the faring.

Maybe we should start a group buy on touch up paint. :D Mine is 07 black cherry.

It doesn't take much for it to be over too far, does it? I almost dropped it like that at the dealer, my first trip there after buying the bike, shopping for lids. Sidestand wasn't right, almost lost the bike right there in front of everybody. I think one more degree and it would have been down!

I HAVE dropped it twice as described by others in the thread. First time I was riding with my brother, he was leading, and I went to follow him out of a stop sign. When I brought my head back around from checking traffic, I found he'd not left as I thought he had, and I hit his can with my front wheel. Didn't knock him down, but I couldn't hold my bike, and over it went to the left. Bent his can a bit, but he just grabbed it and straightened it. His bike had been thrashed by its previous owner, a real squid, and it's not the first time a muffler got tweaked.

The other time was again with my brother. I'd low-sided the previous day in gravel and sprained my ankle. When we came to a stop, my ankle gave out when I put my foot down. Couldn't hold the bike and my handlebar hooked his muffler. The other one! And instead of staying put so I only had to lift halfway, he pulled forward and let my bike fall! *****!

So two stopped drops and a low-side. I'm looking for better luck this year.

Man, yesterday seemed to be a bad day for falling over! I got home from a nice ride, washed the bike since I had traveled over some wet/nasty roads, and proceded to park it in the garage.

While attempting to put it up on the center stand, my wet boot slipped of the wet foot lever, and since I was pulling on the handle w/ my right hand and was holding the handlebar w/ my left, once my foot was off of the lever, I effectively pushed the bike over on it's right side.

Fortuately, the end of the right side handlebar dug into the rear tire on my big commercial mower -and stopped! The only damage was a paint abrasion on the right saddlebag from where it just barely grazed the front tire on the mower.

Could have been a lot worse...

My best fall over to date was one day last year early in the year, working her over, drinking a beer just sat back and grinned with delight, forgot to lean to the left and fell over to the right, it was hilarious!!!!!!

That is the last time I sat on the bike admiring the view out the garage door in the middle of the night with nothing to do but have a few while listening to some oldies. :p

My worst fall over was going to EOM 06, raining dark pulled over to figure out where I was and as I came down the slope from the parking lot I choose to pull into, I got to the bottom and as I decided to go right then changed my mine to go left, down I went, raining 2 or 3 in the morning in the middle of nowhere, no cell phone coverage. tried to pick her up and could not, tried again and though **** I'll be here for ever, then I decided to take all the bags off, except for the right one which was holding it up, then I put the kick stand out and picked it up and let it fall gentle onto the stand so it did not play ping pong with me

Funniest event, was when I decided to buy the FJR instead of the gs1300, then proceeded to take my new baby into the wet grass only to sink up to the hubs.... imagine having to call the better have after forgetting to bring my cell phone and having to walk about a half mile before a passer by happened upon me and had a cell phone with them, I had to pull it out of the mud after kicking it in neutral and strapping it to my hitch and can you imagine the directions I gave the better half about how slow she needed to go as I tried to walk with it backwards as we pulled it out of the schools lawn..... That was when I realized off roaming was not going to happen with this one....

Then another time took my son for a ride and clipped the wooden gate as we came into the back yard trying to avoid the gate a car that was in the back yard that wasn't when we left and all this on a gravel driveway, just likely it was set down in the grass....but it did rip the left side decal off the bag......

I have falling doing very slow u turns in my drive way and have decided that I just did not need to be doing near zero miles an hour turns on this bike. Now if I am moving with a purpose I have not had any issues , just when I am not moving and not paying attention......

No hitting gravel not seen and having the bike jump out from under me is a another story......

And why does your brother still ride with you? :)
