I think I read the park roads thru City Of Rocks Preserve are dirt and gravel. Anyone have any more info on how good they are and whether they are passable on a FJR ??? Hard packed and how much gravel. Don't mind the hard packed, but not a big fan of gravel depending how thick.

The park roads dump out on to Birch Creek Rd which leads back to 27 and then 25. Any info on this road. Not visible in Google Maps

Willie: I just gave them a call at the visitor's center. She said Birch Creek Road has gravel and is "washboardy", so not sounding too fun.

She said the main road into City of Rocks is good firm packed dirt and should be fine on the JFR....

This is all hearsay of course--i've never ridden it and can't remember what it was like when I drove in there years ago...

I thank ya for going that extra mile...i had the same thought after I posted and gave em a call too...got the same answer as you...now they must think a bunch of FJR's are going to show up there next week.. not that would be bad or anything.

as of some yrs ago, this was correct. It's well off the beaten path so probably unchanged, imo.

From yrs ago, my 1st hand info is outdated (so what), I'd remember an FJR could do it.

No major hills or declines that I recall. I would have come in from Burley, ID direction.
