I just need to have a slight rant. Over the last week I have emailed or called on 4 different bikes. All are 06-07 FJR's. I have yet to hear back from a single one. Why post something for sale with contact info and then not respond when an interested party contact then??

Brady,

I hear ya, that's the bad part on online postings...I drove from OLY to Hillsboro, OR, To see an awesome FJR, had called and was cleared to come. Once arrived, the dealer told me, sorry that bike was sold month go, but it keep attracting customers, so we keep it up! I was about to punsh that airhead in the face!

Well left a bad rating on Yelp and called it the day.

This can be very frustrating though!

Take care

Bummer... we who use CL all see this occasionally. Why post an ad in the first place if you are going to be unavailable? Sold? Take the ad down.

Just figured out what CL stands for - duh!

Rarely use it up here for the reasons you mention, plus it is a huge 'scam magnet'. Though I did find my hydraulic lift there.

I'm guessing a lot of people don't know how to allow CL contact e-mail, so it comes in as spam?

You have a lot more self control than I do.

I can't believe the dealer was stupid enough to tell you they sold it a month ago and still ran the ad to get customers in.

Wow, what a ****.

Just as fun to sell something on CL. Get ready for call after call--I got an old Chevy truck in great shape but needs work I'd like to trade...everyone wants to barter. It's a real PITA. However, for specific things I've had good luck--like a set of snow tires in a particular size--24 hours later gone w/cash in hand....

On the other side, I had my FZ1 for sale. Had a guy email me an offer of $2K. I declined so he told me it actually wasn't worth $2K and counter offered $1.5K. I ended up selling it for my asking price of $3500 to someone else.

everyone wants to barter.
This. List a price as firm, they try to barter on the phone and you tell them the price is firm so they agree, then they show up and try to barter again. I've had things I've just thrown away because it wasn't worth all the hassle to actually sell it.

I've had good luck with CL both selling and buying. When selling I don't use our home e-mail I use a google acct. When buying I've done my research and never go with out the thought that it is a buyer beware!

Up until this I've had pretty good luck both buying and selling on Craigslist. This how ever is pushing my patience. If a dealer did that to me I would go straight to the better business bureau for false advertising and for practicing bait and switch. Not only is that slimy its seems very deceitful

Hi flybye,

Thanks a lot for the praise...

The only reason I didn't physically hurt him was, too many witnesses present and my wife there as well, knowing what would happen to that *****, so she held me back....

I've traded or bartered for my last four bikes and several cars over the last four years.

But I have dealt with some great people and some clueless idiots that should not be allowed out of their rubber rooms. lol.

Craigs List can be usefull, but you have to realize that the ratio of real people to scammers is in the area of 1:10. You have to wade through alot of "Will trade for Tatoo" ******** to get to the one serious buyer in the mix.

Using a one-time gmail or yahoo email for the sell/buy is very good advice.
