This may sound like a stupid question but how do you guys clean the windshield without Scratching it. I have an 07, the 08 are supposed to resist Scratching. I have a lot of bug splaterings.

If the bugs are dried on, soak a towel with water and lay it on the windshield to soften them up. Then use a microfiber cloth with Plexus plastic polish. A coat of wax might help.

Mine scratched '07... when I was thinking about cleaning it.

My Rifle gets cleaned all the time and it hasn't scratched at all.

the '07 one scratches really easy.

I use nothing but a generous amount of soap and water with a car wash glove. Works for me.

I use the same to clean the faceshield on my HJC Helmet. Works Great...

Every so often, it helps to use a two-part plastic polish.

Meguire's Mirror Glaze plastic cleaner, then polish.

You can also use stuff they make for boats, specifically Star Brite makes a two step Scratch Remover and Polish/Restorer.

Either of these will make a huge difference.

Everything scratches.

+1 on the hot, wet towel. Just lay it up there to soak a moment then rub.

Rub up and down only. NEVER side to side or wax-on/wax-off Danielson!

It truly makes a difference because you don't create swirls or scratches that are perpendicular to the ones nature makes as the air rushes up the surface of the shield.

I do just the opposite on the face shield and always wipe side-to-side.

Now where's Mr. Miyagi when you need him???

Human saliva contains enzymes that break down organic matter..

so the safest way to remove bug parts off your windshield without scratching it is to lick them off..

(always in a up and down motion as Ashe mentioned of course)

I use a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide solution, with a spritzer spray nozzle screwed onto the bottle. I buy 2 quarts of the stuff at Sam's Club for around a buck.

Spritz the Hydrogen Peroxide onto the windshield, and anywhere else that bugs have splattered onto, and they magically start fizzing and dissolve. After a minute or two, wipe off the dissolved bugs and road grime with a soft cotton towel.

The solution (H2O2) is essentially oxygenated water. It causes any organic matter to release the oxygen and thus fiz.

I'm not a chemist, but I play one on the internet.

Works great.

I found that if you attain a high enough speed for the correct amount of time, the bugs will just burn up and blow off from the friction of the air.

Wax the windshield first. Make sure you have alot of wax on it. Then, use plexus, and a microfiber towel. Keep it wet with the plexus the whole time you are using it. Then, take a little soap and water, and rinse it off. Then, dry it with a leaf blower instead of a towel. Your done...

After a few bug hits windshield it doesn't matter if it is scratched or not anyhow. About the only time I notice is when it gets cleaned every month or two or three. Now the faceshield is a different story, clean that two - three times a week, remove & run under water and then plexi cleaner.

This little oven has a self cleaning feature. Just turn the speedometer dial all the way up.

I spray with water or Adams Polishes detail spray and let it stand for a minute or two. I may spray the heavy bugs a few times.

Then wipe in non circular motion with a microfiber towel. no paper towels and no cotton t shirts only the microfiber towels.

This works very well.

I haven't figured out how to ride without the bugs yet.

Always carry a couple of Bounce (or whatever your favorite) dryer sheets cut in half.

Dip in water and then rub lightly in small circles. Bugs will come right off.

Then rinse off with water hose or squeegee.

Learned this when travelling across the panhandle of Florida.

I just got turned on to this stuff about a month ago,as a tooth whitener(which by the way works great)....I'll give the windscreen a try as well....thx,for the FYI...

Wet towel laid over the windshield for a few minutes. Then the bugs just wipe off with no fuss.

Or.... you can just ride through a lake (provided you got the "snorkel" option on your 08).
