HAHA! I just finished my 600 mile service last weekend! And I have to say, it is really easy to do. However, filters are filters. I have a the cap, which I modified slightly to fit my Polaris and it fit right on spun the filter right off... Just have to make sure it is fully seated. Drain plugs are drain plugs, there all a bitch, as they should be. But seriously, this bike is easier to service than my Honda Generator and way easier than my BMW.

So Bill, looks like we are going to have to meet up somewhere in a few months to compare where were at.

So far, no farkles, but I have the MV Motorrad Bar Riser coming. I am seriously considering a Seth Laam seat mod and maybe a set of better headlights, but other than that... I am just riding.

Have Fun!

Nothing magic about 600 miles. Not magic because it's specified in the service manual either. Anytime between 500 and 700 is just fine for the first service. And there is no reason why you shouldn't do it yourself. (assuming you have the service manual, quality tools, and some mechanical aptitude) Are you going to check the throttle bodies for balance or let it slide for a while? Personally, checking balance at 600 miles is a waste of time in my book. I wouldn't even check it at 1000 miles. Probably will check mine at the next interval just for ***** and grins.

Joe, I'm up to 1100 miles now. I did fluids and filter at 600. Plan to check throttle bodies and steering bearing torque this weekend.

I noticed that the OEM filters now come with the o-ring pre-lubed and covered with a protective sheet of plastic on them.

Just FYI as I am now at a ripe old 3,000 miles that I went to the PNW tech meet up and did a TB sync. Found mine needed no adjustment. Just luck of the draw I guess. And I just noticed this week that my OEM tires now have that distinct flat place on the front tire. And I ride a pretty twisty road every day. My previous bike had PR4s and didn't show this after more than 5,000 when I sold it.

Bogus, as far back as I can remember OEM filters have been that way. Makes for a quick painless installation!
