As many of you know I'm a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and am a member of the Mounted Messenger's in Northern Ca. Well one of our chapters in Duncan Oklahoma called the Spokes Of Hope was out on one of their dinner rides when a car crossed the center line and struck the chapter while riding in a group. One couple was killed instantly, another couple the wife died and her husband is in critical condition. The chapter president was struck with him and his wife on their bike and sustained some injury but both are doing well considering and a trike was also involved. The car that hit them exploded and was totally burned. This is the worst accident I've heard involving CMA and just goes to show anything can happen at anytime. They were just cruising down the road. One of the rules our chapter has is while riding no more than 5 or 6 bikes are allowed in a group because of risks but I don't think even that would have helped in this situation. Prayers to all the families and friends involved in this terrible accident. Blessings and hope to all, Del. <><

Dayum. Sorry to hear that Painman. Prayers to the fallen and injured

I hate to hear that any club would have that happen but especially to the CMA considering all the good that club does.

This household will be praying for all the friends and family of the involved people. Those that were killed I'm sure don't need our prayers, God will take care of them.

Man, that is horrible.... This is the type of stuff really scares me...

I'm in for a few bucks too if someone starts a get well fund. It won't bring anyone back, but it's a sign that others are thinking about them, and let's face it, insurance doesn't cover everytying...

Sympathy and prayers to all involved. Anyone know what happened to the driver of the car? I couldn't get the news link to work.

My condolences to the families and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

I wonder if it would be a little easier for the families if they understood the underlying cause of the crash. I mean, why did the car cross the line? It must have been more than just infringing a foot or two. ALso, it seems unusual for a car to explode after crashing. Maybe the car was traveling VERY fast?

Thoughts and prayers to the injured and fallen.

I have ridden with the CMA chapter here on L.I. a few times.

Great people that do a lot of good for the community.

From the Patriot Guard Riders site:

...Typed by the OK chaplain who was involved on the scene: From: Larry Landtroop Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2007 1:54 PM Subject: Spokes of Hope Accident My brothers and sisters in Christ; I cannot start to express our appreciation for the notes of sympathy and concern. You can rest assured that your prayers are being listened to by our heavenly father. We the CMA chapter and the Families (both) sincerely covet your prayers. Some have ask if there is an account to send donations to, I will go today and establish one and let you know more. I do not have the mail address of the Gunter or Day families for sympathy cards, I will get that today. To give you that don’t know a short synopsis of what happened because there is much confusion in the news media. On Friday August 10 at about 3:30 PM we departed Duncan, OK with five bikes for a trip to eastern Oklahoma for a weekend of riding and fellowship. We were traveling east on Highway 7. About seventeen miles into the trip a 1995 Nissan Altama crossed the center line and struck the first four bikes. The first bike sustained damage to the left side but was not knocked down and the couple on the bike were not injured. The second bike hit the automobile head on and she went home to the lord. The third bike struck the automobile and went into the ditch. The woman on the second bike and the man on the third bike were married. The fourth bike hit the automobile and the couple that were riding it were ejected and both went home to the lord. I was driving the fifth bike and was not hit by the car. I was driving a trike, and the body received a great amount of damage from debris but my wife and I were not injured. The driver of the automobile was ejected onto the pavement. Both the automobile driver and the rider on the third bike were flown to Oklahoma City in critical condition. Frank Day is in the hospital and we lost his wife Betty Jennie Day from Terrell, OK. We lost Rodger and Linda Gunter from Ryan Oklahoma. The funeral for Roger and Linda was yesterday. The funeral for Jennie Day is scheduled for Saturday August 18 at 10:00 AM in Waurika, OK.
