Home safe and sound after riding 550 miles of great SE Texas roads and seeing the CMRA races Saturday and Sunday. This newbie REALLY ejoyed himself! Thanks to all the organizers and participants for making this happen. Photos to follow in a few days. Now, if I could only keep up with the Geezer!

Home safe also. :D It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The races were pretty cool too. Special that high speed spectator lap. ;) :lazy:

We have to do it again.

PS

Scott, Sorry about crowding you....I was looking for you in my right mirror. I was getting ready to turn around and go back for you when you scared the **** out of me in my left mirror. :haha:

An OUTSTANDING time! I had a real blast, enjoying everything from the rides, to the food, to the companionship, to the racing!

I want to give a big hearty thanks to Geezer for being the unofficial host B) ... he took us on some incredible roads, found some great places to eat, and even provided a nice new pickup truck to use as a base at the racetrack. It was also cool meeting his mechanic who was running in the endurance races on Saturday (the guys on the orange bike in the photos above...). They finished first in their class, which was cool as well.

I've got like 50 pictures I need to weed through, and will post them later. It was an awesome weekend, and amazingly nice weather for the end of July in Texas... those of you who didn't make it should try you hardest to make the next one!

Sander,You started all this foolishness - where the heck were you?

LGFT
LGFT,

I got there about 12n on Sunday and parked near the tire and gas distributors in the pit area. A rider on a 2005 FJR in a red riding suit came in the gate about the same time I did and I was going to ask him where the meeting spot was but he took off before I could.

I hung around until about 145p then headed home, fun ride.

Sander, that was me darn it! We looked for you and left a note on your bike to call Gary's cell, but wish we could have met. Thanks for doing the organization on the race, though, about 9 of us showed up and most parked under the stands. We all need to trade cell phone numbers!

Sander,

I too spotted your ride but could not find your hiding place.

We really need to exchange phone numbers....would have made life a lot easier. Either way, thanks for getting the ball rolling.

Gray,

Again thanks for being a great host. The water was a life saver.

PS

Anyone that wants my cell number just drop me an E-Mail.

TWN, the "parade lap" was done behind a truck ambling around the track at about 25-30. Even the mini bikes could keep up. Note that StexFJR, always "on duty" as an instructor was in full regalia, however. GPS functioning too, in case anyone wandered off the track and got lost. All in all a pretty orderly 10 minute affair. We thought they'd never come back.

I think I saw Dewayne get passed in the horseshoe by 2 teenage girls riding double up on a Vino... or was it a pit bike? Or maybe that was the golf cart..... :haha:

At least THAT time they didn't splash the fuel on his crotch.... !!!!!!

Dewayne wouldn't have gotten passed in the back turns if he had realized earlier that he had his GPS plugged into his TPS. Every time he revved it, his GPS told him to turn right, in that incredibly bitchy tone of voice. Who couldn't obey SWMBO?

:D Thanks to everyone who showed up and participated. Really a neat and fun bunch of guys. I really had a good time, and look forward to October.

Maybe I can get my act together and have some really good rides and food arranged next time.

Maybe I can get my act together...
Good heavens man! Twenty great roads in two days, bike races with drinks catered from a pickup truck, fine dining in SE Texas (TexMex and BBQ are two of the five basic food groups). What do you plan for an encore! Rockettes doing a table dance? FJRs as far as a (Geezer's) eye can see? Anyone who was disappointed by this weekend is too hard to please!
