I disagree. A woman drove into the rear end of my XS11 at the gas pumps. She knocked it about four feet forward and it wound up on its side. I billed her for the visible damage. I had a rack rigidly attached to the rear frame (no sub-frame in those days). Imagine my surprise when the rear frame broke about a year later.
I disagree with your disagreement!

With the facts of your mishap I would not have given the same advice. If the only evidence of contact that he sees is the front wheel/fender and the bike stayed upright, please explain to me how the frame would be damaged.

Getting knocked 4 feet with direct contact to the frame is a bit different than getting pushed 5 inches staying upright with no contact to the frame, or subframes.

Wouldn't you agree? :p

Well, I will be the odd man out here.

Wouldn't you agree?
Okay....I agree! :yahoo:

You're probably right, Greg. With that light of a hit and minimal damage to the fender he's likely to have only cosmetic damage. I as considering the steering locked to the left and the bike being pushed straight rearward by a bumper MIGHT tweak the forks.

All this guessing is pretty stupid IMO. Quite dickin around and get the bike in to a dealer to document the condition of it. Then its not his word against yours if something else does arise and with a third party involved you or him are not going to be sorry later about how much you over charged or under charged or whatever. You do have to work together, right? Better safe than sorry, right? PM. <><
