Excellent report and photos. Wish I had the time to take a trip that long (bills to pay...). Glad to see you enjoyed my little neck of the woods here (Idaho Falls). Bad news--snow forecast today and tomorrow, my bike is now officially in storage. Bear Tooth, Yellowstone/Jackson area, Chief Joseph, ah--what a place for riding!

Well, the Yankees were great this year. Deserved to win. But they still suck. if you know what I mean.

Forgot to add this photo from my phone: When I checked into the motel in Crescent City CA, the clerk asked if I wanted parking lot view(closer to lobby) or 'Ocean View" from the scenic second floor. I chose the 'Ocean View'. Here it is. If you squint hard and use your imagination you can see the ocean:

Niiiccee!!

So just to finish the first leg to San Fran. I was pretty pumped to have made it coast to coast a little ahead of schedule. I had the whole day to get from Crescent City to downtown San Francisco. So I stayed along the coast most of the way. You NorCal folks are darn lucky. That is some beautiful countryside.

I rolled into downtown SanFran about 6 pm. The Golden Gate was completely fogged in so no piccies. Sorry.

I met my buddy dan at downtown hotel- he flew in earlier that day. Went out to eat and check the local pubs, etc. Nice!

Next morning while we were waiting for his bike to arrive we did some walking around to check uoutr the city. I won't bore you with all the tourist photos. Instead I'll bore you with these:

We happened across this 'routine' maintenance of a cable car, cable clamp. right in the middle of the street, no big deal, they must do it all the time.

We thought it was cool so later that day we visited the cable car museum. Really neat stuff if you're into gears and pulleys. Great facts and figures in there. Highly recommended.

Around mid-day Dan got the call from trucking company. Headed back to hotel to take delivery and start preparing for the next segment of the journey.

Tomorrow we head toward San Diego. More to come.....

Man, your buddy is an easy going guy, watching those two guys unloading the bike that way.

That looks like a shiny Concours about to fall about 4' to the ground to my eye!

Fred,

I was a little nevous myself watching that process. But I'll tell you those guys were professionals. Maneuvered that big pig onto that lift gate very easily. I would have been sweating bullets. Thats all they do is move bikes. Pretty nifty pallet set-up, etc inside the truck.

Besides delivery includes insurance. No worries!

These pics are like eye **** to us PNW'ers (snow fall down to 500ft soon). Thanks for helping us through the upcoming winter.

I have to get myself to Wyoming damn soon.

Great report of the trip out.....looking forward to the report of the return trip
