Anyone see the article in Road Bike Magazine (March/April) about John Ryan riding an 05 FJR with 170 K miles, from Prudhoe Bay to Key West in 86 hours and 31 min., beating the old record by 10 hrs. I don't think the IBA is going to recognize it as a record because, for safety reasons, they say he covered too many miles in too short of time. Anyway, hats off to a fellow FJR rider.

The IBA doesn't recognize any record setting event like that. It only recognizes it as a completed UCC. Safety is a real concern of the IBA so they don't want to get into recognizing who finishes any ride faster than the next person i.e. 50CC 100CCC etc. since it would then become a competition to see who betters who and rapidly become unsafe. If'n I'm wrong in this, I'm sure Dale or someone else will correct me or slap me or sumpin.
