Had to turn around today, unusual in Sth. CA.

This is the 371 just east of Anza. I was planning on going to Palm Desert but decided to turn around as the road climbs another 1000 ft. or so from where I stopped. If you zoom in a bit on the black blob across the road from the white cage with the lights on, you'll see a neat trick that only a cage can do!

Just a little way back down the road to Anza, a road crew was twisting a road sign around - "chains required 1 mile". Don't think the FJR has a chain option.

Fun ride - no missups

Man you were almost a candidate for these: https://www.2moto.net/index.htm

I rode over to Big Bear from San Berdu a month ago, and nearly froze! You are more of a polar bear than me!

Hey K - just to let you know I'm a total wimp - Electric jacket, gloves and would you believe "socks". The socks are the greatest, damn I hate cold feet! I was toasty

Can't compete with the Polar Bears but this AM ride to work was 17-19 for 20 minutes.. It's amazing the difference between, say, 25 and 17.....

Um.....what mike said.....you kalifornians are ******.
At least we are RIDING *******! Oh, forgot, we are 'Candy Butt Association' *******, with more miles than most... .
Um...hello....welcome to our first meeting in a few weeks....I'm ODOT. The president and treasurer of the Crash Club committee. Some of us are not here yet as we are not able or we haven't crashed yet. Some of us are year round riders....i.e....(we used to not own a 4 wheeled vehicle). Some of us ride year round to save gas. Some of us ride for fun....to work and back...day in, day out. A lot of us could be IBA members but we've no interest in snot-nosing the rubs who ride on the weekends. We occasionally make fun of our friends who can ride to soothe our broken-***-non-riding-butts.....but, we get over it quick and hope our buddies can understand and wait patiently for us to resume our two-wheeled adventures. I'm not a big fan of riding in groups but, "I'll meet you there".

That being said. Let's have roll call and let the meeting begin.

The shot up on PV sure looks familiar; one part of smogcity that I do miss. However, given the ice, snow, sleet predicted here thru this weekend it doesn't sound too promising for riding or driving anything. Nothing like Winter in the Mid West....phoooeeeey! DFO <_<

Yep, we So Cal'ers are especially wusses but we're "can ride 365 days a year" wusses! I can still remember having to winterize my bikes when I put them away for a season, living in upstate NY. That sucked. I'd rather gripe about nippy 60 degree riding weather and a 1/8" of rain while you guys are carving ice sculptures in the driveway. :)

I just wish I could think of riding, its -15 with a foot of snow here in Wyoming, Two days ago it was blowing 30 to 40 gusting to 70, wa wa wa . Sure looking forward to some nicer weather maybe in the 30's or 40's and no wind!

I prefer riding in the winter in Sth CA, the heat in the summer can be miserable.

Here's a close up of the problem behind me. No one was in the flipped car, the white SUV seemed to be waiting for help, which arrived just as I was turning around.

So the CHP arrives and asks, "What happened?"

The driver responds, "Officer, that mountain jumped out and attacked my car."

Oh...lookie...white stuff on the roadway. I wonder if that's ice or snow? Hmmmm, should I slow down? Doh! Thankfully they weren't physically injured so as to match their mental deficiency. However, that same driver will be back on the roadways making the same wonderful decisions while driving in traffic. :dribble:

Fairlaner: good pic -- I grew up in Gardena and Palos Verdes back in the 60's - your pic brought back good memories. Have been back East ever since. Talk about freak weather though; has been in the 70's here last weekend and this weekend, so needless to say the FJR was out and about! :yahoo: Cheers, Jay

We should all be thankful that it was the mountain that attacked the car, rather than the FJR. In a situation like that, mountain always wins. Bike always loses.

I've ridden both my bikes this week, but gave in to four wheels, for the commute at 6am today.
