well...I can only imagine what it must be like riding through a Cali. winter...here it`s been -30 C with a wind chill of over 40 below 0 . Up here it`s so damn cold, there are fewer social disorders as a result. :clapping:

Well, I guess your Moosehead beer stays plenty cold, though, by leaving it on the back porch.

The Crazy thing is this was taken on tuesday on the palos verdes penninsula it was 85 degrees.

I grew up in PV (four different homes)! And did a lot of swimming at Torrance beach. Is that the view overlooking the old Marineland location?

BTW, here's the temperature outside my kitchen window when I woke up this morning (SF Bay Area) :cold: :

Not sure where Marineland was but this is close to the end of Hawthorne Bl.

This picture is looking west from same location and the golf coure is Trump National ($280ish a round).

Torrance beach is the closest beach to where i live.

When i got up this morning my computer said that is was 34 here this morning, what the hell is going on with this weather.

I lived in Long Beach/Lakewood for 25 years. Loved riding around PV as well as other places out in Orange Co. I somtimes miss the sunny winters there and I loved riding year round. The hardest thing to deal with for me living in Oregon is not having the sunny weather to ride every day...although there are those who do. However, I would not trade my beautiful Oregon even in winter for the sunny California winters. Not knocking it guys...if you love it there, wonderful. I just had my fill of the traffic. I prefer the slow life up here and the incredible roads (minus the multitude of cars). I may not get in as much riding up here as I did down there but when I do go out it is breathtaking.

Look at Google Earth on PV Drive just south of Hawthorne, there is a light house symbol labled "Pirates Set". That is Marineland (Had some of the first killer whales), Bought by Sea World... "We aren't going to change anything"... 6 months later it was closed down and the killer whales were in San Diego.

Thats interesting, this is the lighthouse you are talking about. The pictures was taken Nov 5th 06 the day after i got the bike, as you can see from the picture it was another ****** day in paradise.

Had to turn around today, unusual in Sth. CA.
This is the 371 just east of Anza. I was planning on going to Palm Desert but decided to turn around as the road climbs another 1000 ft. or so from where I stopped. If you zoom in a bit on the black blob across the road from the white cage with the lights on, you'll see a neat trick that only a cage can do!

Just a little way back down the road to Anza, a road crew was twisting a road sign around - "chains required 1 mile". Don't think the FJR has a chain option.

Fun ride - no missups

Good place for it!!! :yahoo: Now, its 10 PM, 10 degrees, gotta go out and run the snowblower for about an hour so the paperboy can get in tomorrow morning.

I know the lighthouse, if you look on Google Earth, maybe the symbol is an "i", its just past the lighthouse on PV drive.

I could start another "stupid ****" thread on the things we used to do right above the lighthouse where there are now houses! :D :D :D

Saturday Morning I was in Tower,MN it was -18 degrees. My GPS tells me my sled was going 108 mph on the lake, thats cold. Doing it for 210 miles is nuts, what the hell - it was fun.

Only the ones in my head and they are pretty out of focus! :D

I'd love to know who was paid off to allow those houses to be built... It used to be fenced off with "Warning, unstable ground, slide area" signs all around it!

Yep. That's my old stompin' grounds. Went four years to Palos Verdes High School. Just two years ago two fellow PVHS alums and I, now all living in the Bay Area, did a "Back to the Roots" ride down Hwy 1 to PV. My sister's best friend grew up at that Coast Guard station light house.

Damn that's a fine-lookin' motorcycle! I'd like to have something like that. Wait a minute... Oh yeah!
