1. You can certainly ask, but I suspect a dealer willing to do this is more the exception than the rule. 2. Any bike that has a different color than what is recorded at the factory generally is devalued because it brings up questions of damage history and repainting.

3. And I suspect the labor to do a swap is easily an hour or two.

4. Finally, there is the risk of damage during the swap.
1. Hard to tell. Depends how well FJRs are selling, I guess. I brought it up after price was negotiated, and dealer accepted without trying to charge me a penny more.

2. Wrong. Two '07 silver As sold quickly here. Most people want their bikes unique more than 100% stock to sell as classics 30 years from now (most won't be anyway).

3. Definitely more than that for the whole thing done right, so 'luvtoride' wins the bet.

4. True IMO. I wouldn't let dealer do it (I did it myself), but it's not hard at all to do; just time consuming. Take care.

You bought a bike based on a picture?? You are braver than me...I'd have to at least see one in person before I plunked down my hard earned $$$.

When I saw pics of the first year R1 online and read the specs, I immediately knew I had to have one. I too plopped down a deposit based on that alone. I put my deposit down 6 mos ahead of time to insure I'd get one. The dealer called me on April fools day to tell me my bike was in. I told him if that was his idea of an april fools prank I was comin' down there to kick his ***. But the bike was in fact there. I got the very first R1 in Dayton. There really is such a thing as love at first sight.
