Greetings! this is my first post as an FJR forum member. It looks like there is a wealth of excellent knowledge on this site just as there is on the FZ1 board, which I have been a member of for a long time. I do not have an FJR yet but suspect that I will by next weekend.
The Colorado Freewheelers motorcycle club in Colorado has been holding a 1000 mile in 24 hour event for around 25 years. It takes different routes every year. Unlike the 1088 in Utah, it is a more low key event where you run the route pretty much for the sake of doing it. There is not a first place or any sort of competition. That said, the Freewheelers do a good job of putting together a fun route with some challenge that is not apparent on the surface. For instance, last year the route went from Denver to the Black Hills to Devils Tower and back to Denver. Sounds easy right? I thought so too but when we spent 5 hours at an average of 20 mph in the Black Hills, it made the schedule a bit tighter. The 20 mph average speed was because of all the twisties and many small towns. The twisties were no problem for me on my FZ-1 but the small towns drove me nuts.
This year the route is a lap of the Colorado high country. It starts in Denver, heads north to Ft. Collins, west to Craig, south through Grand Junction to Durango, east to Walsenburg, and finally north to Denver. 1034 miles according to Street and Trips.
For anyone interested, here is the url.

Hopefully this year I will be doing it on an FJR. Not only will I be more comfortable, but I won't have to change the FZ's gearing back to stock!
