I had to look that word up. It never looks right when I type "rendezvous". But then again, "escargo" reminds me of those big plastic tubs sitting on top of a minivan. I guess I'm just French-empaired.

ANYWAY, anyone interested in grouping forces for the ride in on Thursday let me know. I have officially ditched both kids from Thursday morning until Monday afternoon, and will be passing the school bus on my way out of town!

:yahoo:

Jeff, just looked at a mapbook... where is Richland? It's not in the index.

I'm riding w/ Tim05FJR & his hunnee who are passing thru Virginia Beach on their way to Boone. We're riding out on Rte 58 in VA & dropping down into Carolina on I-85. Planning on taking I-40 to 421 into Boone. Is this anywhere along your intended route?

If so, lets catch up.

Heidi

Update: Wow, I see where you are! Just NW of Jacksonville, right? You're down there alright. Are you going N on 40 into Raleigh/Durham? If so, let's hook up.

I'd estimate that it'll take us about 3-3.5 hours to reach Durham. It's hard to say since I'm traveling w/ people that I haven't ridden with yet. Don't know their break habits, etc. Tim has a pillion so I'm assuming that we'll be breaking every 80-100 miles or so.

We plan on leaving the VB area around 7ish. Probably be passing thru Durham by 10:30ish?

Jeff,

Can't join you on the way up.... but let's plan to ride back to Eastern NC together on Monday.

Rick

Howdie Heidi, (I just love saying that!)

Hooking up around Raleigh sounds like a plan. I can leave here anytime after 7:30. Have to wave at the kids as I pass their school bus! :D

I-85 and I-40 come together at Durham. Somewhere around Burlington to Greensboro would be a good place to stop and hookup. The cheapest gas along the whole route is at the Haw River/Alamance College exit. There's a truck stop there with Wendy's etc. that has hundreds of cars purchasing gas every hour.

But anywhere is fine with me.

Sending you a PM with my contact info. Call me if you can and we'll nail it down.

Howdy Jeff,

I just PM'd you before reading this. Anyhow, that sounds really good. Do you have any idea, or can find out the exit # for the Haw River/Alamance College? I'm assuming your mileage is going to be less than us? Let me look at my trusty atlas... oh yeah, you've got less to cover than us, so I'm assuming a 10:30ish meet time would be good for you?
