How do those of you that have ridden one of the 06 mmodels copare its ABS to that of the 04/05 model.

I'm curious because I have an 04 ABS equipped model with the non-linked brakes and find them excellent.

I find that the ABS on my '06 is a lot less noticeable than on the '04. My rear brake on the '04 pulsates a lot and easily and often. On the '06, I don't even know it's there, and it stops like NOW. Very nicely done. Works like a charm. And I thought the earlier ABS was pretty sweet!

The difference between my 04 ABS and my 06AE seems significant. While I cannot give specifics (not enough time on the 06 as yet), the linked brakes seem to be more powerful, while requiring less pressure to activate. Could simply be the "everything new" thingy as well.

Although I've only put 120 miles on mine, I kind of have to agree with you guys. Compared to my '04ABS, it just seems.... I don't know, tighter. Did some panic stops and it seems more glued to the road.

Also, it seems like I can use less countersteer, and just lean the bike through the curves more. (That may be due to Smitty and the guys forcing me to ride faster or smoother).

Disclaimer: I haven't put enough miles on this bike to know crap... take it with a grain of salt... I'm not that great of a rider. B)

I just realized there is a difference that I didn't notice until you asked the question. There's one stop at the bottom of a hill on the way to my house where I constantly caused the ABS to activate on my '05. I just realized that my '06 does not activate there. Huh.

As for the linking, I just haven't been able to detect it. While I sometimes use the fronts without the rear, I never use the rear without the front, except for low-speed parking lot situations, where I would think the linking might not be welcome. Nonetheless, it remains unnoticed by me.

The proportional valving on the 06 UBS gives rear bias at low speed and front bias at high speed. I'm impressed. I tested the system repeatedly (06 AE) coming down Pikes Peak on off-camber hard pack gravel. The FJR stopped impressively straight and true.

I found out from a post on this forum that the rear brake linking feature only activates when you apply heavy pressure on the pedal. The light pedal pressure you would use for low-speed parking lot situations or u-turns only actuates the rear brake. This is great, IMO.
