This may be a stupid question, I have been reading where some people use the "compressed air method" to remove the grips instead of cutting them off, I can not for the life of me figure it out. I will be removing the grips and would like to remove them intact if possible. Thanks for the help.

You take the very end tip of the compressed air fitting and jam it under the end of the hand grip (after you remove the end weight, obviously), and squeeze the air chuck nozzle. The grip should "float" right off as you pull the grip outward while the air is flowing.

And they go back on exactly the same way, put some grip puppies on this weekend over my gel grips, what a difference, should have done it months ago.

No more tiny buzz throught the grips and it actuallt feels a lot better in my hand.

Recommend them to anyone https://www.casporttouring.com/store/mercha...=Yamaha_FJR1300

Best $7.50 I ever dropped on the FJR, actually, the only $7.50, everything else was much more.

Skippy

WD-40

Just use a small pointed tool, small screw driver even a nail

Lift the edge of the grip so you can get the plastic tube dispenser under the grip.

(you know that red tube you get with every can which you throw away :D )

Spray and force the tool in.

The glue will soften and the grip will slide off with a little twisting.

To remount the grip, spray the inside with WD-40 and slide on.

The WD-40 does evaporate and the glue sticks after.

Or if you don't have compressed air, stick a screwdriver under the grips at few places and poke the plastic extender nozzel of WD40 into the gap and spray. They will wiggle off easily. Or if they are glued down, simply cut them off (carefully with sissors if you have the electric grip heating pads).

Remember for the new grips, that there is usually a left and right grip (different diameters). DAMHIK

Ha beat you to it Pierre :bleh:

It was like I discovered plutonium when I first did it. It reminded me of a puck from air hockey how butter smooth it slipped off. I like the air method because there's no residue even temporarily.

And, I've never glued a grip before. A nice clean grip seems to hold on just fine without adhesive.
