Does anyone know what the latest is on construction or road improvements down there?
*****************************

I was there in September, and there were a couple of spots of construction, but overall, roads were in great shape. One of the "sisters" has about a 3 mile stretch of hard pack dirt/gravel to ride thru, but was able to cruise thru it at about 40 mph.

A friend road them this week and reports all's well. Except of course it is rut for the hoofed vermin so beware.

Thanks for the info. My brother in law is picking up his bike this weekend. He's convinced Texas is flat, so I thought a weekend trip around Leakey would fit the bill. Any other suggestions?

There is a stretch of 337 between Vanderpool and Leakey that has construction, but as mentioned, it's hard packed and easily navigated. The rest of the 100 mile loop (The "Sisters" to noobs) is in as good a shape as can be expected.

The construction I rode thru on 337 a couple of weeks ago wasn't that long. Easy to put up with for a few minutes till you hit the asphalt and start cookin again.

Thanks for the feedback. Somewhat related, has anyone stayed at the Koyote Ranch near Medina?
I havent stayed there, but last spring I did happen upon a rather large group of lesbian bikers...they were staying there...and thats ALL the endorsement I need to say go for it!! :yahoo:

Everybodies got ya covered on the roads...but SERIOUSLY watch for the critters during dawn/dusk...very very plentiful this year !

Hey Hotboot,

I'm headin that way myself on Sat. Due to a small injury I'm drivin instead of ridin but look forward to seeing you and hopefully a few other of the feejer faithful, I just love the old 2-strokes...oooh that smell ! I'll be wearin a maroon Triumph shirt an my usual guiness cap, see ya there !

Bobby, thanks for the warning. I'm looking at a trip down there about the 3rd weekend in November so I'll check back closer to that date to see if the forest rats are still bad.

Just got back, was only at Luckenbach for 2 hours but saw all the cool old stuff. FJR's were plentiful in the parking lots but nary a black one to be found anywhere. We need to make this a regular meet and greet every fall. Perfect Feejer temps but it was 33 this morning, warmed quickly.

The critters were out in force, dead ****, possum and squirrel everywhere which means buzzards dining along the roads all day everywhere. Deer along 336 are out all hours, and they just stand in the road looking at you like they own the place. Back it down to almost legel speed and you should be OK.
