I've got a question. In one post, you said you picked up an 07, and in another you said that you picked up your bike from the dealership with 00 miles on it. I know I'm getting old, but did I miss something? An 07 with 00 miles on it? Is that even possible? If you don't mind sharing, what did it cost you?

New Purchaser Checklist

Either personally double-check or ask the dealer specifically the following things before taking acceptance of the a new FJR:

* Are the saddlebag lock latch screws loctited? (validated this is still an issue with '07's, and:Security Torx Bit Link Clicky )

* Did you get theThird lock with bike in case you get a Yamaha top box?

* Are the Saddlebag body color caps included?

* Is the Toolkit under seat?

and did you get the sidecases "inner bags" luggage

Yes, Gary, it was possible. I posted in another thread that it is a brand new '07. I also own a 2009 VStar 950T. Have been looking at this bike for a long time and trying to decide if I wanted to trade my '08 Triumph Tiger 1050 for it. Finally bit the bullet last Saturday and made the trade. Dealer came down to 11,900 with full warranty and gave me a good price on my trade in. He was anxious to get rid of it as has been on his floor plan for a long time.

I know I will take a big hit on depreciation but I am 73 years old and this will most probably be my last bike. :)

Yes on all the above. I have faith in my local dealer shop as have been dealing with them for two years now with my other bike. :)

OK, guys, I just joined and already infamous. I have over 5,000 posts on the Triumph Tiger 1050 forum in three years and, looking back, asked some pretty stupid questions when first joining it. Bear with me guys. Promise I will do better when I figure out all these bells and whistles. I have an owner's manual but didn't read the part about ABS as didn't think I had it.

By the way, is there a shop manual on the web that can be downloaded?

Thanks for all the replies. :)

No worries, the only dumb question is the one not asked. Some will say to do a search first, but it doesn't matter. Most on here are more than willing to help at least point you in the right direction. Nice bike, btw.

Hey Monty I'm on the tiger 1050 forum also. I was going to trade/sell my Tiger when I got the FJR but I can't seem to let it go.

not trying to hijack here, but I too bought an 07 ae with 00 miles on it two months ago. gave $7500 OTD for it. :yahoo:

Monty, I had the same problem last month when considering buying my '05....does it have ABS or doesn't it??? At that point all I had was a bunch of pictures from the used car dealer where the bike was. I poored over every photo, studied the wheels...."I wonder what ABS looks like"??? I just didn't know.

Then I had a tip-off.....the 1/2" high decal on the front fender....."ABS"!

Hah, solved that one all by myself!! I don't guess the '07's have that decal though, being as they all came with abs....too bad, it helped me a lot!! ;)

Yes its possible to still get several year old "new" bikes. A dealer here in town still has a new Silver '06 AE for sale. Doubt it has 0 miles, but I'm guessing it has less than 100-200 miles. Still wants $12k.

2006 AE

It's been a while since I bought my 2006 "A", but I'm pretty sure the list price of an "AE" in 2006 was not $15299. If I renmber correctly, the list on the "A" was about $12,500 and the "AE" was about $1500 more. At any rate, and regardless, the price he is looking for on a bike that is already five model years old is the reason he still has a bike that is five model years old.

Surprisingly the MSRP actually is 15,200. Yamaha Link

Though I agree, asking $12k for a 5 year old bike is crazy and the reason it is still there. I bought my 06 from these guys last year, but the price was much better than this. Decent experience actually.
