I currently have a set of wires going to the posts on my battery for my magnum blaster horns. I would like to add some Gerbing gloves and connect to battery as well but I don't think the screw from the battery has enough room for another set of clips. Is there an easy solution? Would it just be a longer screw?

Thanks

Time to start thinking about something on this page. Sooner or later your will probably do it. It might as well be sooner.

Bike Effects hits the nail on the head. There's a gray area with one accessory, but if you're doing additional items including electric clothes...you should REALLY start thinking about fused distribution blocks. Once you do...you then will magically think up other things to connect. My particular disease has me using two of these, but I swear I can stop anytime. I'm not addicted or anything.

Some people are just more ambitious than others. I'm using the PCIII on my '04. When I installed it I thought getting to the battery was just too much trouble. So while I was there I ran two 10 gauge wires down the right side to under the seat to where the PC resides. I put on cable ends of the same size that would work with items going to a stand cycle battery. To those wires I now have attached a Scorpio Alarm, the Battery Tender connection, and two Gerbing Heated Jackets. Been a few years now. For insulation (I'm a bicyclist also) I used bicycle inner tube rubber pushed over the connections and secured with nylon ties.

I just never thought of the "Buss" thing, and been remiss in working on that. Each one on those other things are using the fuse that came with it on it's individual harness.

The only problem with that is if the hot 10 gauge wire develops a worn spot in the insulation and shorts out under the tank you might have a little fire problem. Make sure that any wires running power from the battery are fused as close to the battery as possible.

I appreciate the thought! That does sound like something I should do. I'll be looking into doing that. Looks like I'll need to excavate into the battery's hide out. In my defense, I did tie down the wire so that abrasion shouldn't be a problem, comes from my days as a Jet Engine Mechanic where vibration is a very critical issue for wear of all kinds of contack points.

My experience is that the insulation is most likely to wear out near any tie wraps/restraints. Best bet is to get some sort of protective wire loom and run all your fore and aft wiring through that. Some folks use the asphalt/cloth tubing that requires you to snake the wires through from one end, others use the split plastic corrugated tubing. The latter seems to be in vogue in automotive manufacturing these days, which makes me think it is probably a good way to go.

I took one of the OEM battery bolts to my local Ace hardware and sized it up in their metric sizing sample. I then bought some stainless steel metric allen head bolts one size larger than the OEM's. Works like a champ.
