OK. It's confession time. Go ahead. Tell me I am a stupid good-for-nothing and I should leave the wrenches in the tool box before I hurt myself. But...

What's the trick for disconnecting and connecting big electrical connectors? Twice now, I have removed my side fairings for various reasons and have spent an embarassing amount of time disconnecting the electrical power that goes to the turn signals. It seems there is some trick I am missing. I avoid pulling or pushing too hard, and driving a screw driver blade into the dang thing too far. But then, suddenly, I must hit the magic combination and -- Voila! -- it comes apart easily.

I just picked up a PC III USB from Jeff in Napa (Sportbikeeffects.com) and as I examine it I see ends of the dreaded connectors amd envision again getting frustratued tring to undo the old connectors and connect these into them.

Help!

You will see, on one side of the male connector, a tab. Press this, after pushing the connectors together to relieve pressure on the lock, then pull apart. It can take a fair amount of pressure to accomplish this. You are lifting up a notched tab that fits over a protrusion on the female side. Once one is off, you will see how it is constructed, and the rest will go easier. All the connectors are of this type IIRC.
