I absolutely want to go! I just don't want to go alone. I don't like riding in the mountains by myself.

I just got a text message from Jay. He says he still does not know his kid schedule.

Oy!

I forgot that you originally showed some interest in this trip, Joe.

We had fun last year.

Have you made a reservation yet at The Alleghany Inn? I'd split it with ya...but I can't commit until I see what the weather is supposed to be like for the weekend. If I can't make it down & back because of snow, I'll have to bail.

I'm aware of the weather situation, Joe. No, no reservations made. I still don't know Jay's plan, either. If it came down to the 3 of us, we could make a really cheap weekend & split a room 3 ways. They may even have suites... not sure.

I emailed them about a roll away bed...we'll see how they reply

Everyone is welcome to go. The company would be appreciated. Also kicking around Lewisburg, WV as home base. It'd be closer for you Joe, wouldn't it?

I believe it's comparable distance for me. I think it'd work well for Jay, also since he's in Northern Virginia now.

Rte 3 is some awesome **** if you haven't ridden it, yet.

edited to add: I just checked Google Maps. It's over 50 miles closer for me to just go into Lewisburg.

I KNOW it'd be closer for Jay

Also to note... I now have AAA

Are late takers welcome? If Joe decides to venture down from Ohio I'll sign up to be his wingman.
Denny...it would be great if you could make it.

Heidi, Lewisburg would be about 346 miles 6 hrs (if I jump off 77 just south of Charleston and take Rte 60 down). And yea Rte 3 looks pretty nice along with Rte 311. I'll be following you, as I have never been to this part of WV.

...We may even be able to get Mr. Meadows interested in joining us for a ride on Saturday.

And they do offer roll-away beds for $5.00 a day

Well, maybe Lewisburg is the place to make reservations at, then. Next... which hotel to stay at?

& I've ridden this area many times... but Rte 3... not very often. 10 or 16 have had my attention more than once each. If Jim were to ride with us, I'm sure he'd be leading us around. He knows more about the area then I'll ever know.

Pick a cheap place that we can cancel if need be (just in case of snow)

The Brier Inn/Quality Inn offers a decent breakfast, has a restaurant/bar on premises. There's a gas station very nearby & Ruby Tuesdays is right near there, also. Not to mention... parking your bike right outside your room.

I seriously doubt any of the hotels there in town would be booked the day after Thanksgiving. Maybe just wait until the last minute to make a reservation?

That should work...$76.49 a night AAA rate, for a 2 queen bed non smoking room.

Got this from their web site...

"If you need to change or cancel this reservation, you may do so up until Friday, November 29, 2013, before 6pm local hotel time."

I am waiting to see if Jay is a go before making any reservations.

I guess it's up in the air as to whether Jay will make it. He has his kids until 3:00 Friday. He hasn't decided whether he'll meet us in Lewisburg on Friday night or not. Now, as to hotels... do we want to stay @ the Brier Inn or do we want to stay elsewhere? There are cheaper places but they won't offer the same amenities.

I'm fine with the Brier/Quality Inn...I think I'll be splitting a room with Denny (drc32-0) who I'll be meeting in Marietta for the ride down.

If I end up rooming alone with no Jay, I'm looking @ $140ish for lodging, alone. That'd so suck!
