Off SWMoto's web site, Has anyone tryed them?? They look nice and meaty, just looking for some imput.. Smitty

Southwest moto

Newly developed High-Impact 0° Steel Belt tire giving the performance of a sports tire and the mileage of a touring tire.

Exceptional grip in both wet & dry conditions for sporty year-round touring riders.

Innovative tire construction for a very high level of comfort and safety.

Precise handling under all conditions due to the MCD (Multi Curvature Design) of the tire

Hee hee hee.

Are you kidding me? What rock were you hiding under a year and a half or so ago Smitty?

NOT the choice of tire for a certain benevolent dictator. And that's all I have got to say about that.

Sure, here's my input... let me just say this: I would run a Metzler Z6 with bulging sidewalls at 150mph all day long in the desert heat, before I would put another Conti Heart Attack tire back on my FJR. <_<

Teerex is running them on his bike. I thought Stef mentioned Conti had designed a newer version for the Sport Tourers with a stiffer sidewall. IIRC, the sidewall flex was the issue, making them squirrely under braking when Warchild ran them on his bike.

I'd do a little research before I mad the decision to buy them.

Yes, there has been a change, one of which resulted in the fronts no longer being made in Korea, but in Germany where the rears come from too. (and where the main plant and testcenter is)

Wether or not they are now any good on the FJR, I have no idea.

I run a set of road attacks on my honda vfr. they are ok by my standards for the lighter bike. They are only single ply instead of two ply which in mho are need for a heavier bike like my fjr which i run avons 45 46'.

One of my Forum buddies here bought a set of Conti Road Attacks (non FJR specific) about a year ago and hated them for the reasons mentioned above.

In the meantime, Conti came out with 2 "dedicated" versions for the FJR, that is

"Z" for the front

"B" for the rear

and I put them on my bike a few weeks ago.

After 3,500 kms (2,200 miles) I can say I'm pretty happy with this tire

- very good grip on dry roads: it's a real sticky tire! :) (I ain't gotten rained on yet :clapping: so I cannot report on its behavior on a wet road surface)

- no shimmy, no squirrelly feel

- good riding comfort

- good road feedback

- little tendency to stand-up when braking into a curve

- reasonable service life: 2,200 miles of mainly twisties have used up 2mm of my tread. I reckon I'll get another 2,000 miles out of this set. I tend to change my tires b4 they reach the minimum tread limit.

(A set of BT020's would only last me 5,000 kms on the same roads and with the same style of riding. Bike was at its max allowed weight 2/3 of the time)

I'm definitely going for another set of Road Attacks next (Z+B only)

Stef

Never mind.......  Smitty

Smitty,Gary McCoy of University Motors in Fargo ND just quoted me $124 for a rear Avon +$12 S&H. Same price as the Conti.
Thanks Kindofblue, it wasn't the price of tires just looking for my new favorite tire. I have had some balancing problems with Avon's. Looking to try something else. Smitty
