I happened to get a good look at my FJR from the rear today with the bags removed. Yikes! That long slab of black plastic fender is uuuuggggly. I like the fact that it is there to keep the rear wheel spray from running up my back when it's raining. However, sometimes the sun is shining and I would like to play Ricky Racer with the bags off. Has anyone come up with a convertible fender... there when you need it and gone when you don't?

(Must have too much time on my hands today.)

Sort of, here's a link to a fender extender that is adjustable from stock size to longer.

I haven't seen stock size to smaller though. It's a good idea.

Start chopping stuff off the bike and it become less desireable on resale. I would buy a used fender (tail) and modify it so you can keep your stock stuff. Problem is thats it won't be convertable per your mood that day. It's a very labor intensive swap. Not worth the trouble. My buddy cut off his donkey dick but the square edge doesn't look cool and he can't put it back.........

Hey that's a great tip. Now, if I can trim the wide part so that it is just a skosh shorter... then on sunny days, I could completely detach the slide out part. Might have to try this!

Hello, from Finland .

I made some changes on my rear fender, simply made it shorter .

Normaly i´m driving without bags, so i also want that my bike looks nice ...(i like it this way...)

When it´s raining my ass is not anymore so wet because i did put an hugger also .

Fender .

Fender ..

Fender ...

Just cut it - the rain doesn't come up your back - it does spray on the tail light, mind you.

IMHO looks great on my ride - pics from 2006. Don't regret having done the deed:
