What you need--what you really need--is one of Sacramento Mike's Magic Anti-Pain Pocket Rocks!

rock_solid_solutions_small.jpg

(your rock may differ from sample)

You just carry this baby around and you'll feel 21 again. Only three easy payments of $19.95, plus shipping and handling. Act now and second rock is free. Just pay separate S&H.)

Or if you're too tight to do that, get one of these titanium-infused necklaces like half the World Series players are wearing, only $36. Stabilizes the flow of energy in your body. (But as they say on the website, "Beware of fakes. Get the real Phiten.")

Or ibuprophen. ;)
You will have to get your ROCKs off somewhere else Mike. The ibuprophen is great except the doc won't let me have it anymore. Too many other things thinning my blood. I think the answer is vicodin and medicinal marijuana in moderation :D

Your are going have to get his head out of his ass first. As tight as that Irish ass is it may not have any effect.

I believe that most copper bracelets are mostly copper and as such

should provide the wearer with a superior copper experience.

I have a buddy who has chronic back pain.

Had surgery, spent years afterwards in a lot of pain. Practically lived in the chirpractor or massage therapist's offices.

He has been wearing the belt with copper and magnets in it for a couple years now, and he has been markedly better.

No more 6-8 week stints incapable of the basics and surviving on physio.

BUt, that said, you won't find imperical evidence on these sorts of treatments one way or another. Everyone's body reacts differently to different things.

I say, try it.......it can't hurt ya!

Ray, weed should help with JOINT pain. Ha just a poor attempt at humor.

Seriously take the stems (the bigger and more the better) and soak them in rubbing alcohol in a mason jar for a few days after which rub the solution on sore joints. Have not tried this myself but a bowling buddy and a few others I have met swear by it. Good luck!

In my previous post about DMSO, this is what DMSO excels at. DMSO is a solvent that also readily passes through the skin. I know several people that would crush up the pain pill of choice into a bit of DMSO and apply it to the joint. Dunno if pain relief was placebo or not but the joint swelling and redness went away. I will also reluctantly add that the source of the DMSO was from our vet who gave us several bottles, some for our horse and some to 'have on hand'. The vet went on to say that he would never recommend human use -- and went into great detail on how it should never be used, followed by a huge wink. One friend used it for ~6 weeks and his knee finally healed. One side affect of the compound dimethyl sulfoxide is the 'sulfoxide' which is a sulfur based item and it finds its way into your breath. Be it horse or human, DMSO makes ugly breath.

DMSO also carries anything contaminating the skin along with it (like the pain meds). There are a lot of risk warnings out there, so do your research and make your choices. It can take bad stuff along with it into your system. If you use it, wear gloves, wash the area, rinse it well, maybe even wipe it down with isoprophil alcohol (and allow it to dry). IOW: extreme cleaning of the area before application.

the placebo effect is an amazing thing to see.

which is why they do studies of large groups of people over extended times... it minimizes individual variations. you know... science.

it might. failing to get accurate care...

season 1

episode 2

Penn & Teller's "********!" - available to rent and specifically addresses this issue with references to credentialed sources other than snake oil salesmen.

Yes, DMSO carries some liabilities and should be used only with good medical advise. As noted, but probably not as strongly as I should have, the DMSO users had two different medical advisers detail the correct procedures before using. Bounce's advice is spot on and consistent with what the users were told. That same advice was also given to us when applying DMSO to our horse.

Before even thinking of using DMSO, or many of the other suggestions here, remember these suggestions comes from the internet, by complete strangers with no medical training. While creative, a group of motorcycle mechanics may not give the very best medical advice you could get ;)

LOL, most Vet's won't even stock DMSO in the buildings anymore for use on lrg animals

On a person? ack

as for placebo effect? How cynical....not a surprise, considering the source :)

You mean from the realist that doesn't believe in superstitions and magic charms as go-to solutions for medical problems? ;)

Well, Aye don't know about copper as a health aid(?), but the way that metalsmiths pre-joritize it is as follows;

Goldsmiths never tarnish!

Silversmiths tarnish only slightly!

while...Coppersmiths just turn green with envy!

:D

I'll get right to the point. Copper bracelets - no, but if one believes, yes.

The best OTC "natural" pain reliever is Arnica, either in pill form at your local health food store or the oil available everywhere in most major stores.

For more serious arthritis: get a rx for voltaren gel.

Or for more local pain get the lidocaine patches.

The capsaicin also works.

I'd also recommend adding Tabasco brand hot sauce to your diet. The peppers contain the capsaicin, and are proved to relieve pain.

Speaking of your diet - eat good food "as you are supposed to". It will help. And, if you are carrying extra weight, then lose it. Carrying more weight (and stress) does not help. Also, get more fish into your diet. The fish oil helps joint movement.

+1 on the marijuana that happens to be legal in your state.

+1 on the vicodin BUT get Vicoprofen. It's the same hydrocodone, minus the acetametophen, and instead adds ibuprofen to reduce inflamation. )Assuming that you are NOT on any other meds. If it's really bad, ask for the EX strength. (EX = Extra Strength - 7.5 vs 5.0 mg of hydrocodone).

And as always, check with your PCP!

And if you still have problems, PM me and I can tell you more. (Young Onset Parkinson's Disease, cervial fusions C5, C6, and C7, and cervical and lumbar disc disease).
