I'm a pretty hard core corbin fan, but what a bunch of bs.

The Corbin front saddle is NOT height adjustable. Instead, we've made the saddle with the best ground reach possible and designed it to fit perfect with the Yamaha bodywork. The plastic installation bracket used with the stock unit will not be used with the Corbin saddle.

I'm riding with my seat in the high position now. At 6'2 the leg room at the low position is awfully tight.

Sounds like no one here likes the new seat but for me it sounds pretty good. I really like the fact that it allows for a 29" height which will really help the height challenged like myself. As for the cost I have to admit it is pricey but I guess we can either take it or leave it. I don't think Corbin will be to concerned if a few us don't buy.

Vmaxed;

I'd be very interested to know your thoughts when you get this... my lovely rides her own so two-up isn't part of my overall config. based on that, the front seat and smuggler trunk options look very nice to me. i'm vertically challenged, so I don't have long-legged issues -- I want to be as close to the ground as possible.

I didn't particularly like what Corbin had on their website for the '05 and earlier, but this '06 design looks pretty cool. Would very much like to get your thoughts after riding.

Thanks!!

regards!

Patrick

I think that I might have to order that seat. I am 6'3 so on the tall side, however I was blessed/cursed with a smaller inseam. So I think it might work for me. I would like to find out what Garauld might be able to do with that luggage rack. If I get a Corbin with a back rest will the rack still fit? What id I also got the glove box?

Garauld help what do you think?

I'd want both front and rear saddles heated and a smuggler to interchange. There is talk of a group buy on another post. I'll definately be down for a Corbin group buy.

I have one on order...2-3 weeks. Front seat, Passenger seat, and backrest. $962 :big_boss:

Corbin Web page

Holy shite !!

Rogdeb just got a totally custom Meyers seat for less than $700... and this is a one size fits all for $1000!
The seat is not totally off the shelf. When you order they ask for your height, weight and inseam.

I've had heated seats so I get it - they're great. However, even on an '06 I'd consider heated seats an extreme exercise in redundancy.

If you ride during the winter months on the east coast you won't think so.

BTW Corbin has a big blue van up at Lake George NY. If you go to the event you can get a 10% discount if you order there.

Just ordered mine too. They indead asked me for my height and inseam. When I said 5'7 and 29' inseam he asked me if I wanted a nose job. I said "huh"? He said they could trim a little off of the nose (front sides) for better reach to the ground. He also said if it is not what I wanted I could send it back to be reworked at no charge. So I should have my new Corbin saddle with a nose job in 3 weeks.

Well, I've ?reordered? mine today....actually thanks to "trusting your local dealer"....man was I stupid..

I told them what I wanted, had a nice credit on my account after picking up my 06...said I wanted the canyon dual sport if they made if for the 06. They said they'd check..they called my and said no problem, it's ordered. That was a week ago...so today for ssss&ggg's I called Corbin after I decided to order the backrest and just checked on the delivery for the new seat....already shipped he said...but that won't fit an 06. Dealer never specified according to them. This was after they called me to check on the "charcoal" color for the middle.. stupid, stupid...stupid. Guess who I'm calling first thing in the morning! Corbin said that they'll be calling them too....live and learn....daddy always said...."never trust a dealer" :angry2:

Nose jobs?
Well Corbin better be giving more than nose jobs for $962. Looks like their prices have gone up recently. I see they sell 1/2 oz of Vasoline for $12.99 too! Guess I know what to do with that. Besides the Sparrow debacle they now need to pay for the TV show. All their self-promotion isn't enough...

I've purchased 3 seats from Corbin in the past, including one for the FJR. That might've been my last...

Speaking of the Corbin seat. I have an appointment for 9:00am on June 16th to get fitted for my seat. I'm considering just letting them ship it with and then send it back if additional trimming is needed. It is about a 4.5 hour ride from where I live and I'm not sure I want to take the ride just for a seat plus sit around there shop for 5 hours.

Do you guys think it is best to take the ride so that I can get fitted there and be done with it or should I just have them ship it?

For $400 it'd better be perfect or I'd be pissed. Just a great excuse for a nice weekend ride.

Rode from LA to Corbin to get mine on the 04. Although I paid about $285 in August of 04 and they custom made it for me. They make you ride it without having the skin on to test out the pressure points and act accordingly. But found out that through time, the seat becomes more comfortable.

The place is ok, you can watch the sweat shop or get a burger in their delli. They usually have other bikes there to bullshit around with while you wait and check out the show room. The advantage also is you get to pick the leather/fake leather and compare it with the color of the bike...etc.

In any case, it was a good trip plus you can take the 25 from Hollister which is a good ride by itself. Just watch out for cows and some quick turns that come up after a few miles of straight roads.

The first couple turns will catch you unaware after droning the straight section. First few corners are tight little SOB's ! :) Sounds like Big D puckered his new seat a few miles from Corbin ! ;)
