Good call, Dan. I just rode through there today doing a little last minute "scouting". It was a beautiful day mostly great ride. (see my other posts for the not good part).
BTW, how will youse guys deal with being lead around the bridges tour by some guy on a (not bass boat) Blue Triumph?

As long as the color makes your eyes look like limpid pools, we'll be fine. :yahoo:

BTW, I was through there at about 1PM today. Then went over and searched for the other section of Skip's lost Rt 114, jogged right to Hillsborough, back to Weare on 149 and over to New Boston. Shady parts of the road were still wet mid-afternoon. Combined with the first bits of fallen pine straw and leaves, it made for some interesting moments.

Wow, this looks like fun. I'll be keeping an eye on this gathering as well as the weather. Right now Oct 3rd looks pretty open for me. I hope the weather cooperates. Thanks to you planner folks for orchestrating..

Somebody on Poverty Plains Road in Warner tried go over the old non-existent bridge Doh! You don't suppose alcohol was involved?

Never even slowed 'til they hit the water.

Knowing that I couldn't make it Sat, we rode out yesterday to the SW cluster.

Took the 2nd NH tpke back from Hillsboro, it was in good shape and I cruised 35 to45 most of the way.

I notified the locals to make sure all the bridges are spiffe up for ya!

Let me declare publicly that: From this time forward, any ride that I personally am involved in organizing will be open to bikes of all flavors, with the sole exception being: Very loud bikes (aka open pipes). I don't even mind the sound of a nice, sporty bike with a well tuned exhaust note (especially ducatis), but riders with open pipe noise makers will be asked to leave. :glare:

Anyone else is welcome to join the fun. :yahoo:

Skip, Shawn K has experienced some personal strife in his life lately and not been very active on this forum.

My understanding from those that have met him is he is an A-OK guy (regardless of his mischief in the past).

I was really hoping he would make this ride or the Whites / Greens ride previously as, I for one, would like to make amends. I think I owe him a beer or two.

But that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

It's pretty hard to not like the guy when you meet him.

Heck, I was kind of hoping he'd find his way to EOM.

Well, unfortunately Mike and I had to make a weather call by today since they have a 48 hour cancellation policy and since the forcast is still for rain we cancelled the hotel reservation. It would not be worth the ferry and hotel money for a ride in the rain. The rain date of 10/10 does not work for either one of us since we both already have other plans for that weekend. I hope whatever day you ride the weather holds out and look forward to some pics.

Oh man, that blows. We're going to miss you guys. But I certainly understand your position.

I was talking to ionbeam this morning and noted that, even if does get pushed back to the 10th, there's no real guarantee the weather will be any better that weekend either!! I cannot believe the friggen weather this year!

Damn it.

Hancock NH Forecast:

Friday Night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday Night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Icing on the cake:

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 65.

Foliage is improving by the day!

The reds are close to peak in some areas.

I realize this is not my ride, but, "If" you have to postpone to the following weekend you do pick up a 3rd day. If Saturday the 10th is no good you could move it to Sunday the 11th or even Columbus Day the 12th. Certainly one of those 3 days will be bright, warm and sunny. Or not! LOL!

Very nice... I'm camping in Weare for the weekend. At least I have a metal roof on my camper.

Headed out this afternoon to check on the foliage up in Webster and West Salisbury and found some good color, an old iron bridge being given away, and lots of farm animals.

The Blackwater River.

Then I found the old West Salisbury Bridge that I heard about on TV that is being given away. It is in disrepair and will be torn down unless someone else wants it. The catch is the new owner must remove it. You'd think a snowmobile club could use it.

Apparently it has some historical value as these signs reveal. It was built in 1893.

I then crossed the Blackwater River further south on Tyler Rd in Webster. This is a favorite section for whitewater kayakers in the spring when the water is roiling through here.

And past state senator Harold Janeways farm and home. Get out and ride while you can. With this early cold weather and rain our opportunities are dwindling.

You got that right Skip. I had a really nice ride on Monday. Perfect conditions.

(just watch out for them friggen forest rats!)

As to the weather, hang in there folks. The forecast often changes pretty dramatically in 2 days.

I'll make the official call on Friday as to whether we delay to Columbus day weekend or try to stick to the schedule.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but tonight's TV weather is calling for an inch of rain on Saturday. Not clearing out until Sunday afternoon.

Yeah, I'm not too optimistic. I'll hang in there until Friday AM when Fred makes the call.
