Would you have to replace the whole speedo for a cracked glass or is there a way to replace only the glass - I have a small crack starting in the bottom of mine that goes up about 1/2 inch and I'm sure it will get worse. Thanks
Thanks Ignacio - this was very helpful - I know see that the black plastic piece and the plastic gauge covers come as i unit and is not to hard to replace.Looking at the online resources page one can choose to look through the fiche yourself from various sources. Look at the "METER" fiche. They give a part number to the whole assembly (over $500) or you can ala carte the "CASE, METER UPPER" with part number "5VS-8353E-01-00". The "glass" is actually plastic and integral with the black plastic.
Try the various sources and you might beat the $76.68 USD I saw on one.
Your Canadian results will vary.....
Geezer makes an excellent point. I definitely would.Since you are going to pull the instruments you may want to replace all the dash light bulbs.
My ABS bulb is out, also an 05. All are going in this winter.Geezer makes an excellent point. I definitely would.Since you are going to pull the instruments you may want to replace all the dash light bulbs.
Including now a link of a thread that helps in that task....including PICTURES!My ABS bulb is out, also an 05. All are going in this winter.Geezer makes an excellent point. I definitely would.Since you are going to pull the instruments you may want to replace all the dash light bulbs.
Not very difficult....just time consuming since you have to remove the nose. I could do it in about 2 hours if somebody put a stopwatch on me. Probably 4 hours for a first-timer.I can't imagine replacing the glass, but I suppose you can do it.
It's not totally airtight. No gaskets as you can see from the pictures. Plastic on plastic. It is designed so driving water won't get in it though. But if you have condensation...I wonder if you've gotten water in it somehow. I would want to take it apart and see.The inside of my Tach's glass is fogged up a bit some days when I start out on a ride, then seems to clear.
