I have tour master suit and HJC for my everyday wear. When doing longer rides and trips the stitch & Rapha comes out to play. So I might end up in the same situation some day.

Plus 2 for Motoport, see my related crash thread, looks like we had a crash the same day.

The Motoport stretch kevlar didn't melt, but I got heat rash where my bare skin was (the heat transfered through, and I was only wearing gym shorts underneath No matter, I would (and will) replace the crashed gear with more Motoport stuff.

Sorry to hear about your broken bits, glad you made it out and can post about it.

Contact Motoport. No need to replace the gear. They will repair what you already have.

sorry to take so long to respond, Joe Rocket jacket. the armor twisted and didn work at all. there are three straps to hold in place ,but they all came unsnapped.I thought I was healing well, then I started coughing today. I feel like I just wrecked again. As far as the mishap, I set up for a curve ,and was passed by another rider, I focused on him instead of keeping my line . When I remembered that I also was riding a bike, I was getting close to the edge of the road. I said to myself , I got it, I got it, OHH S**t . Low sided ,Slid 50 ft. bike stopped under a guard rail. But like yall said , could have been a lot worse.

If that cough is accompanied by a fever, get to an emergency room! Regardless, let your doctor know of this change as it may be important.

Crashing sucks. Crashing and breaking ribs really sucks.

As others have noted, not all textile gear is created equal. Sometimes you get what you pay for and good gear is worth the money. I often wish my stuff was better.

Glad you're still around, fixedblade, and sounds like you have injuries that won't be permanent. Broken ribs are the pits -- several episodes of them, all from pretending to be a soccer goalkeeper.

I, too have wondered about the abrasion differences between nylon (my Yamaha jacket), Kevlar (Motoport), and Cordura (Aerostich). I think the ****-Tex label applies to coatings or liners, but I may be wrong. Atlanta can be a sauna, but I'll endure a lot of perspiration in order to walk away from a slide.

Glad to see you are still posting and hope you heal fast. Yesterday I was just looking nicer gear than I have now and tossing the idea around in my head about upgrading what I have. (Cortech and TourMaster) After read your experience I am thinking about it a little more.
