Creaking handlebars

My 2008 handlebars starting creaking recently.I have 11000 miles on it. I couldn't see any issues. Finally started handling oddly. upon close inspection, the top fork bracket ,that the handle bars mount to, one screw was completely missing(hidden behind throttle cables on right side) and left screw had maybe a thread or two of contact. pretty nerve racking and annoying. I went over the entire bike this weekend but found nothing else loose fortunately.

Anyone have a squeaking windshield when it goes down? kind of embarassing when shutting off bike in front of people. can you use anything on the rubber to prevent this? thanks

Mental note to go check the mounts on my new 08. Windscreen noise.. None here in the movement, just a very high pitch whistle when the screen is all the way up. A whisle cause by air passing over the screen someplace. So high pitch you can't tell where it's coming from (thought it was my helmet at first). Then noticed it was only with the all the way up, and intermittent (sounds like morse code being sent).

Scotty, try removing the Yam windscreen W-shaped 'mask'. My whistle stopped after that. Then I bought a Rifle w/s, had the same problem after reinstalling the mask, so I made a foam gasket for the mask that goes between it & the Rifle mounting bracket. I also silicone sealed all the holes in the area - no more whistles !!

I think Tomcat is worried about the noise the mechanism makes against the rubber seals as the windshield retracts. You could try a little black grease?

The triple tree bolts is alarming, any work done on your bike recently?

no work done, just routine maintenance. bummer but checking bolts pretty frequently now[

Ok, I'm starting to have the same problem. The windscreen is moaning as it retracts. 08 FJR with 8k miles.

My guess is it is a motor issue? Any remedies?
